Carolina Panthers Mini Camp Notes - June 18

If what you say were true, this would be a very hard part of the roster to figure out. With Igo saying Todman has looked good, the question of Stewart, Fozzy, Todman and CAP makes for a difficult choice. If one were placed on the PS they would surely get snatched by someone.

This is going to be a place where pre-season will be extremely important.

May be true, BUT Silatolu's cap hit I'd imagine would be higher than Folkert's considering he was a 2nd round pick, and iirc Folkerts is a UDFA with no guaranteed money.

I wouldn't care of Silatolu had a 12 mill cap hit.  He should not play for us anymore.

Quick question.  I've been mostly offline since yesterday afternoon, and just now had a chance to watch RR's video comments from yesterday about minicamp.  I have a very vague idea of what "installation" is for a team for the offense and defense.

Can someone with more football savvy explain the significance of Ron's words about being able to install both the offense and defense three separate times during OTAs and minicamp?  I'd appreciate it, thanks.

His comments are in this video, beginning at 3:34:  http://www.panthers.com/media-vault/videos/Ron-Rivera-Solid-finish-to-offseason/d0913e83-af3b-42c7-9c77-91c885c95c2d

Nice work.  Curious to know the reason for moving Remmers in and out at center.  I wonder if they think he could be an eventual Kalil replacement, if Williams steps up at RT.  Probably over thinking it though...

Basically two reasons to try this out. One, versatility. He who possesses it has hand, cuz it makes it tougher to get rid of you. Win for the player. Win for the team.

Two, what SetfreexX said. Kinda. Folkerts is the incumbent back-up center. but he can also play guard. Then you add in Remmers trying to learn Center. It does kinda make sense that the powers that be may be trying to open up a roster spot by keeping one less O-lineman.

I think it's more can we make Brian Folkerts expendable and carry 9 OL opening a spot up elsewhere on the roster.

LT-Oher, Martin

LG-Norwell, Silatolu

C-Kalil, Remmers

RG-Turner, Scott

RT-Remmers, Williams

Perhaps a 6th WR, DB, or a 7th LB vs the 6 we carried last year, or a spot strictly for a ST player, or UDFA we don't want to risk on PS.

Yeah, flip out Folkerts for Silautolu and I'm with you.
