Holy Frijoles! The 2015 Sporting News Pro Football prediction issue

We should be expected to win the NFCS. Our QB is in his prime with plenty of weapons, our defense is a good as it's ever been, and we've rebuilt our special teams. The Saints are on the decline with Brees' arm turning into a noodle, the Falcons defense is a joke, and our defense locked their offense down the last time we played holding them to 3 points. The Bucs are starting a rookie QB and are slowing implementing a new system. Why wouldn't we be the favorite? Things have lined up in our favor, and there is no excuse for not winning the NFCS for the 3rd time in a row.

Now, come on folks. We all know folks out there know all about us. They just want to see us put it all together. No more up, then down then look good turns into WTF football, win one year, lose the next. In other words, "The Lions Syndrome."

Win the Division-Playoff team schedule the next year-don't make the playoffs. The next year-get non-Playoff team schedule, make the Play Offs. And the cycle continues.

We may have had a...hic-up along the way, but we are BTB NFCS Champ. Let's just keep winning and leave all that other shhhtuff for folks without a Play Off team to figure out.

Look at who we play though. The majority of games we play are against teams that had losing records (thanks to our crappy division teams). If we simply beat the teams with losing records, and lose to every team that had a winning record, that puts us at 10-6. If we beat the Texans too, that puts us at 11-5.

I think we are still under the radar because it seems that Sporting News thinks we will lose to almost every quality team on the schedule this year.

This is easier said than done because it means a sweep of the division.....regardless of TB, NOR, and ATL's situations, a division sweep against your rivals is awfully tough.

Now I'm not saying we aren't capable of 11-5.  Personally I hope we beat at least a few of those teams that had winning records last year.  We'll need to do so to be taken seriously as playoff contenders.

I don't care which teams we beat. I'll take 11-5 after last season. Only two 11-5 teams have failed to make the playoffs in the last 37 yrs. (since 16 game schedule).

Highlighting a few notable Sporting News predictions:

Either Ron Rivera or Bruce Arians will be NFL coach of the year again.

Cam Newton will soon make his contract look like a bargain.

Panthers: 11-5
Saints: 7-9
Falcons: 6-10

Wild-Card Games
New York over Carolina

Where is all this coming from? Hate Drew but he led the freakin' league in passing yards last year.

Just saying that I respect our competition. Everyone looks at last year's standings and forgets that the NFCS had two teams with 11 or more wins in 2013, and has pretty consistently put two teams in the playoffs over the past few years.

I won't be surprised at all if NO or ATL squeeze out 9 or 10 wins this year. If Stew goes down in week 5, we're looking at 7-9 again.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
