Norman contract talks described as "quiet...real quiet

Captain Morgan

Recommended Posts

In the last year of his contract, Norman is due a big pay day if he continues to improve. Whether that will be with the Panthers or another team, Norman doesn’t know. He’s well aware that general manager Dave Gettleman has been frugal in paying defensive backs.

This is my issue with ESPN's sensationalistic style of writing. What cornerbacks have we had during Gettleman's tenure here that have been even remotely worth paying?

Come on dude, you know the CB's.  Captain Munnerlyn, and the bad ass Mike Mitchell that's so good in Pittsburgh.

Why would it matter if he's running his mouth? That was never his issue. It was the dumb penalties and not playing within the defensive game plan and scheme. He's completely bought into our defense so that's a non-issue and we haven't seen dumb penalties since the beginning of 2013. He's been running his mouth his entire career and won't stop. And it doesn't hurt anything.

and as long as it's controlled, it's welcomed.  I think he's learned when to draw the line.  Nobody should have a problem with the trash talking, as long as production matches the mouth, and it's not costing the team.  Norman is doing a very nice job.

I don't think the front office or the coaching staff quite trusts him enough just yet to throw him big money.  He's performed well, but he's made a lot of bone headed plays and spent most of his career in Rivera's doghouse.  I think he still has to prove some things before we're comfortable giving him a big contract.

I just don't get some of you guys.  Norman has been a huge talent since we got him.  The talent has never been the issue.  The playing within the scheme was.

If Gettleman is smart.  He'll pay Norman now.  Get him locked up in a Nice extension or new contract before 2015 starts.

Those of you that think he is a "Maybe talent"  are going to be the ones bitchin when he blows up in 2015 and he hits the Market.  Josh wants to play in Carolina and it is in our best interest to get a deal done now.  If I were a betting man, I would put money on it he is on many teams target list for 2016 and beyond.  If we don't sign him.  He'll be a top 10 Free Agent.  NO DOUBT.

Get it done, Dave.  Keep this stellar defense intact.

Well that was one shitty click bait article

"Here let me hook in the Panther fans by making it look like a Norman contract article"

Proceeds to talk about fuging NASCAR the entire time

If they ever talk about the panthers (football)  AND something else, it's always about something else.
