The Answer is on the Roster

And then you realize Wilson ran from the spread formation during a pass play how many times?

The Seahawks had 3 RBs carry the ball on the season for a total of 389 carries out of 1021 total plays. What percentage would that be? In the playoffs their RBs ran for 42% of the plays.

They beat the Panthers with the passing game, they beat the Packers with the passing game, and they almost beat the Patriots with the passing game. It sure was not the running game that sealed those victories. The Seahawks called more passing plays and ran more spread formation than any other formation. A majority of Lynch's runs come out of 3+ receiver sets.

That is their offensive formula. The Seahawks do not rely on a power running game with play action.

...... Tell me.. Have you learned anything today?

To be honest this might make Cam a better QB. Not just looking for one target, going through progressions. I think there is enough talent on the outside. Tom Brady and Russell Wilson made it to the Super Bowl without a star WR. Those teams seem to win it these days. I seen a write up on that a year or two ago.

stopped at "a hard nosed running attack"  where the fug is this coming from

From the 1st post, 5th sentence, and it wasn't a statement about what the offense was. It was about what it hopefully will be. What team doesn't want a strong running game? They were running the ball well at the end of the season and obviously have high hopes of continuing that success.

I woke up this morning to find the bulk of Panthers Nation on football suicide watch in the wake of the Kelvin Benjamin ACL news. While the situation does look dire for the Panthers receiving corps, it isn't the end of the 2015 Panthers playoff hopes.

The Panthers simply need to look at the offensive talent they have on their roster (and there is plenty of it), and embrace an identity that matches it.

What should that identity be?

Answer: A hard nosed running attack with play action passing.

The Panthers do not have the roster currently to attack by the air. It just will not happen this year folks. However, the Panthers do have a very strong roster for running the ball. Embrace it. The pendulum started to swing last year. Teams have smaller, faster defenses with sub packages to combat the passing game of today's NFL. The time is now to run the ball in a power running game and turn their defensive strength into a weakness.

Oher, Norwell, Kalil, Turner, Remmers, and even rookie Daryl Williams are all suited to dominate in a run game provided an adequate scheme and play calling. Stewart, Tolbert, Todman, Artis-Payne, Brockel and even the rookie Lee Ward are perfect weapons in the offensive backfield for this approach. So they want to put 8 or 9 in the box? Good, let them.

Pretend it is 1978, line up your biggest meanest guys and pound out a few yards at a time. Throw a quick out to Greg Olsen, or a long bomb to Ted Ginn out of play action. Bootleg Cam Newton for a big gain once the defense is tired and gasping for air.

Forget running out of the shotgun. Forget the finesse two tight end sets. Forget the bubble screen to a 4th receiver. Forget single back sets.

And for the love of all that is holy, please do not pretend last year's offensive scheme will work with the current Panthers personnel.

Because...

    • I was definitely on board with re-signing Darnold for another year while they drafted someone. Darnold really turned a corner once he came back in the second half of 2022. He is one of the better QBs in the NFL now for sure. Still makes those patented Darnold blunders though, evidenced by throwing a pick on a potential game winning drive yesterday. But he was also stellar at times during that game too.
    • I dare you to go “pull the records” on my Cam posts. 🤣🤣🤣  Kyle Allen posts too.  I was one of the few screaming how garbage he was early.  Also, look up the posts and see what side I was on when it was rumored Olsen tried to console Cam his rookie year after a tough loss.  And whose side I was on when people criticized Cam for the towel, or “pouting” or for dancing.  I have never wavered.  Not only do I pull for Cam as an athlete, but I felt a kinship with him dating back to his Florida days.  I wrote about it here.  I know what it’s like to be judged off your persona, your reputation that someone else has given you, off falsehoods, off appearances, off of a mistake.  I know what it’s like to be ridiculed and omitted from opportunities for those things.  I’ve never me Cam, but that’s my brother.  So, anything insinuating anything else is hilarious.  I was riding for Cam when half the board wanted Marcel Dareus.🤣  I was riding for Cam and running off racists like “TheRealDeal” over Matt Moore (who, actually was a damn good QB, imo, but he was no Cam).  To this day, I still maintain, if we signed Cam off the street right now, he is the best QB on this roster instantly.  I don’t care what anyone says.   So if you have some sort of previous history with another poster or posters that made the racial component obvious, then please share, but when it’s coming from me?  Trust and believe - this ain’t that.  Never will be.  And no doubt, a ton of Cam hate was purely racial.  But, I call a spade a spade.  Mentioning Bryce in the same breath as Cam is objectively insulting.
    • I haven’t. And always willing to show face. If you’re going to a game let me know. Love for you to explain why I’m an idiot to my face.
