Dallas walker! The  beast  . Why get a wr when we can get a beast like walker

And which free agent WR should we sign that will make us better?

  • Wes Welker? Spent most of last season out with concussions.
  • Reggie Wayne? Signed with the Patriots.
  • Randy Moss? Last played in 2012 and he's 38 years old.
  • Santana Moss? Steady, but no better than Cotchery and he's older.
  • Santonio Holmes? Missed 24 games over the past three seasons with injuries, and not been the same player since a major foot injury with the Jets.
  • Brandon Lloyd? Can still make plays, but he's known for being a troublemaker in the locker room.
  • Robert Meachem? Outside of New Orleans he's done nothing, but even that is nothing to shout about.

So other than Randy Moss, and that's a big stretch because he's not played in three seasons and is 38 years old, I don't see a free agent option worth picking up. We are better going forwards with the core of receivers we have in house, than pursuing a bunch of over the hill veterans with little to nothing to offer.

need somone to take practice reps at TE for injured Brockel.

an inexperienced basketball player is gonna take Brockel reps/role for awhile?  That doesn't sound like the ideal camp bandaid.

Why can't someone make me a NFL GM.  I would be like a mixed combo of Matt Millen, one of those people from Chappelle's Keeping It Real sketches and whoever wrote the script for Luke Kuechly's Pepsi commercial.  What could go wrong.

lol... sometimes i agree with you CRA. this is not one of those times. its pretty obvious at this point that Gettleman has built a strong overall roster. yes he has made his PR mistakes (Smith and Hardy), and yes he seems to be slow to make personnel changes (Rodgers and Shula), but the fact of the matter is that he has still done a damn good job with what he's been given to work with. a strong, talented roster, two straight division titles and playoff appearances, and a healthy franchise financial situation deserves at least an A- grade from me.

the only reason i can think of for someone to retain such disapproval of Gettleman's performance as our GM is that that person is caught up on a hotbed issue and completely ignores the overall restoration Gettleman has worked on our franchise.

whatever your criticisms, you seem hellbent on opposing every move made by Gettleman. thats not something i can do... the body of work is too positive for me to be like that.

Remember the panthers picked up Dwan Edwards after final cuts three years ago. Let's wait and see how this thing plays out. There's still value to be had once teams go down to 53.

Exactly... there is nobody out there that is going to help until final cuts.  I got a feeling the Panthers are going to release at least one LB and RB that will end up on someone else's roster.

Even after final cuts, finding someone like a Dwan Edwards is not a guarantee by any stretch.  The Panthers are more than likely going to have to roll with who they've got.

I do hate it Frank Alexander.  Sometimes as fans we get caught up on the loyalty thing, but at the end of the day for players, it's a cold business.  Gotta get paid while you can.

Overall, Gettlemen gets a positive grade from me.  At this stage, I just have really two gripes with the dude.  Which is pretty good.

My only gripe is he seems only to be looking at long term building.  I think he could do more in addressing the teams glaring issues that we have as we head into seasons.  He doesn't seem to bother with band-aids as we approach and season....and I don't expect much roster change going forward.

but I get why you say that, I don't tend post much on  things I think are awesome.  I'd rather hear people's input on the things I don't think are awesome.

heck yeah, THE Dallas Walker!

Nothing like adding a 27 year old TE that has never logged a NFL stat to show you mean business! ....when your hopeful starting DE goes down

Gettleman definitely got his eyes on that 'ship!

i see you're still a giant baby

that post was at least 85.7% straight up joking around.  maybe don't take everything I say so serious...

Unless we are talking about old RBs.  I mean every word of that junk.  0% joking.

Yeah wtf, a tight end? That's like literally the last thing we need.

Anybody who's still unemployed this deep into the offseason likely isn't filling any 'needs'.

If there are any bigger acquisitions yet to come, it won't be till cuts start, and maybe not even till final cut down day.

id still take welker , cheap solid vet and he would be a great target for cam.  or we could have waited for roster cuts and snag a receiver that gets cut from a team thats deep at the wr position.  just dont see no point in signing a guy thats most likely not going to make the roster

you have to sign someone. It doesn't stop us from cutting them and signing someone else during cuts. poo we have cut and resigned the same player multiple times over the preseason activities based on practice needs in other years.

These signings literally mean next to nothing except for the random times you find someone that just sparks.

    • Then don't tune in. It's really not a hard concept to understand, if your making your decision based on your own personal needs/feelings as opposed to what is best for the future of the franchise, then it's a you problem, not a Panthers problem. When the season is already lost, every fan should be rooting for the same thing.  The team plays hard until the final whistle of the season and keeps improving as a team and individually, but in the end, we still come up short and lose games, and preferably because the other team beat us, not because we screwed up and found a way to lose due to our own fault. Look at it this way... If we are up 1 or 2 points with 3 seconds left in the game and the other team is lining up for a FG.  Beyond the joy of victory or the disappointment of defeat, what impact does the other team making or missing the FG have on our team the following season? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Except where we draft and what teams we play due to our finish in the division. The players and coaches on the team would have the exact same level of improvement and learnings about themselves individually and as a team whether the FG is made or missed.  The ONLY difference in the end is the record in the standings and if the win or loss number changes. If you want to argue if making the playoffs to lose in the first round or just missing them is better or worse, that's totally fair and I can at least understand the other side of it.  But in what is already a lost season, if you're not hoping your team plays well but ends up losing, then you're cutting off your nose to spite your face.  You're hoping for a moment of happiness at the detriment of the franchise's future, and in turn, you're basically then happy for a moment to only set yourself up for future further disappointment.
    • If we’re eliminated I want the wins more.   The season is already a disappointment and if I’m not pulling for wins why bother to tune in?
    • Two things terribly wrong with this post. First is that not one time has myself or anyone else agreeing with me said that the team themselves should think that way or try and lose for positioning.  Never once have I suggested the team should purposefully lose games, ever.  I honestly can't understand why people keep saying this in posts, not one fan has ever said the players should or would purposefully try to lose. And second, is yes, that has happened and it's happened very recently.  The 2020 Bengals were 4-11-1 and then were playing in the SB the very next season.   And while it might have been 2 years later and they didn't quite get to the SB, the 2021 Lions were 3-13-1 and then the 2023 Lions were up 24-7 at halftime of the NFC Championship game. The season between those two? They finished 9-8 and only just missed the playoffs. Which is why I keep trying to compare us to the Lions in where we are at in our re-build.  Throw out Bryce's rookie year with the Reich staff who just didn't work out and he looked god awful.   This past season when we were 5-12 in Canales' 1st season is that 2021 season for the Lions and their 1st season under Campbell.  This year is their 2022 where they grew a ton and Campbell's culture building was clear, where I'm saying we'd likely be better off in the long run if we go 8-9 or 9-8 and just miss out on the playoffs (which is still a significant improvement from last year).  Then our 2026 is their 2024 when we have a chance to be a real contender after adding a few more pieces and our key players having another year of experience under their belts.
