Do the numerous RB cuts around the leage increase our chance of sneaking Wegher to PS

The title is pretty self explanitory, but what says the Huddle? Do the several higher profile RB cuts around the leage in just the first round of cuts increase our chance to get wegher through waviers and stash him on the PS either for next year possibly or for the inevitable RB injury?

I think we are overrating him a little bit. Yes, he has great heart and potential. However he has only gone up against guys on  the bottom of the roster. He was never given the chance to go up against the first and second teamers. That might have been part of the plan though. Fly him under the radar and give us a chance to stash him on our  PS. We will see what happens. I just don't see other teams leaping to get him.

Why do people think the "Undrafted" show would make other teams more interested in him. Every team has scouts that look at these players. The tv show wouldn't affect a thing. If he gets claimed, he would have even if no media in the country knew who he was. I still doubt he gets claimed. There's a lot of backs like Wegher throughout the league and as FAs. I like him and want him to stick around on the PS, but he's not going to be the Stewart replacement that everyone here thinks he'll become.

A lot of young RBs with great vision, hands, quickness, speed, strength, toughness, and freakish athleticism? Ones that can slice through small holes in a red zone defense with little to no blocking for 10 and 5 yard runs on a regular basis? Ones that can launch themselves from the 5 yard line and into the end zone with consistency? Ones with the high jumping technique/ability to go up and over the defense at the goal line? Ones with the ability to tackle like a true defender on special teams?

Two offenses Wegher will thrive in when the Panthers release him: Patriots and Saints.

True but he has also only had bottom of the roster players blocking and drawing coverage for him.

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
