Official 2015 Panthers Season Prediction

Why are we afraid people? Ice water in my veins. We got this.

@ Jags - W 28-10

Texans - W (20-14)

Saints - W (24-13)

@ Bucs - W (35-10)

@ Seahawks - W (38-21)

Eagles - W (34-20)

Colts - W (impressively too. Like, 31-10)

Packers - L (will be close, but only because our defense keeps it low scoring. 17-7)

@ Titans - W (21-3)

Redskins - W (27-14)

@ Cowboys - W (34-17)

@ Saints - L (think we go in over-confident after winning on Thanksgiving. 28-13)

Falcons - W (35-10)

@ Giants - W (17-14)

@ Falcons - W (20-3)

Bucs - W (21-7)

14-2, NFCS champs, NFC championship losers though. Think we lose our steam on that 4 game stretch at the end, limp through the divisional round, and just sputter out. Without KB, it's hard to predict Super Bowl.

I'm all for optimism but its worth pointing out that the last time Seattle lost at home by more than 7 was in 2011. that team lost 34-12 and was 2-4 entering the game with starting QB Tarvaris Jackson and backup Charlie Whitehurst, eventually finishing 7-9. I certainly hope we run over teams like you are predicting.

I'm going to let you in on my thought process for those picks.

1) It is overly optimistic, because this thread...no, this fan base deserves it.
2) The Seattle pick and score is mostly emotional. I hate Seattle and I just feel we're due one there. And I really feel we got a good feel for them in the playoffs. If we beat them, it won't be a close game. If we lose, it'll be tightly contested for most, if not all, of the game. Much like the playoff game.
3) I honestly feel, with this team, those scores are possible. Not far fetched, but actually POSSIBLE. Our offense won't put up those big scores alone. Defense will do some scoring/setting up crazy short fields.

To point three, look at what our team as a whole can do. Tell me just one of those scores that you can't realistically see us making (with the exception of Seattle, because again, emotional pick on my part).

@ Jags - L : Panthers cannot put up more than 17 points. Rivera continues his poor opening game record with conservative coaching that leads the Jags to a TD in the 4th quarter to win the game.

Texans - L: Offense goes no where with the Texans sitting on the running game. Need receiving threats.

Saints - W: Pressure Brees into turnovers. Panthers running game knifes through the Saints even with an 8 man front.

@ Bucs - W: Low scoring game. Jameis is punished all day. Panthers get some help in the air with Funchess.

@ Seahawks - L: Rivera remains win less against Seattle and win less after the Bye. Continues to get outcoached.

Eagles - L: Panthers can not keep up with the scoring of the Eagles as the receivers continue to miss opportunities.

Colts - L: Panthers again lose due to the inability to put up more than 20 points a game.

Packers - L: Same story. Packers 37 - Panthers 19. Defense is on the field for 40 minutes. Rivera remains win less against the Packers.

@ Titans - W: Panthers pull out a last minute drive to win 24-18.

Redskins - W: Panthers can pass the ball against this team. Run away victory.

@ Cowboys - L: Rivera gets out coached. No passing game. Panthers fail to keep pace on the score board. Greg Hardy has a field day with the Panthers always playing from behind and having trouble with receivers coming up with critical plays.

@ Saints - L: Saints unload. Panthers unable to keep pace with the passing game. Rivera out coached.

*** Panthers are at 4-8 on the season. Brown, Cotchery, Dickson and Harper are released. Panthers bring up Bersin and re-sign Lucas for 2 TE sets with the passing game. Sign a S and WR from another PS. Funchess and Norwood start. Ginn, Bersin, and newly signed WR rotate at 3/4. Rivera and Shula open playbook and let Cam audible and take shots down field. The Riverboat makes his predictable appearance.

Falcons - W: Passing game catches fire. Panthers blowout Falcons.

@ Giants - W: High scoring shoot out. Must win.

@ Falcons - W: Stomp Falcons again scoring over 30 points.

Bucs - W: Finish the season off strong with a dominant game on defense and offense.

Panthers finish the season 8-8. Saints @ Falcons determine the NFC South champion. If Saints win, they finish 9-7 and win the NFC South. If Saints lose, then the Panthers, Falcons, and Saints all finish 8-8. Panthers win the NFC South with a 5-1 division record; Saints 4-2; Falcons 3-3.

Gettleman gets praised by fans again for putting together a team that went 4-8 to start the season and finished another season with a losing record, but the threepeat division championship is heralded regardless of the Panthers getting trounced by the Packers or Seahawks in the playoffs.

Panthers fans hope for more of the same in the 2016 season and declare it an NFC South dynasty.

To point three, look at what our team as a whole can do. Tell me just one of those scores that you can't realistically see us making (with the exception of Seattle, because again, emotional pick on my part).

You have the Panthers D giving up just over 200 points on the season and the Panthers offense scoring over 400 points on the season. A +200 point difference. Essentially, you are saying the Panthers will be the best team in the NFL and the favorite for the Super Bowl come the end of the season. This would make them one of the best teams in NFL history.

I would love to see that, but I highly doubt it. I will be happy if the Panthers break the 300 point mark in points scored, and then I hope the defense can finish anywhere between 250 to 300 points allowed. If the defense allows 350 points again this season, then the Panthers are at best a .500 team.

The Panthers have topped the 100+ point difference 3 times in their history. They have never surpassed 150 point difference.

I will be happy if the Panthers D can limit the Saints, Packers, Colts, Eagles, and Cowboys offenses below 30 points. Even more so if the Panthers offense can not sustain a passing game to keep their defense off the field.

Your Jaguars, Seahawks, Eagles, Colts, Packers, and Cowboys scores appear highly improbable. Hope it happens though. That would be one great season.

floor 8 - 8 / ceiling 11-5

The average gives us 9.5 wins - I'll round up to 10, so say 10-6.  I was leaning 11-5 before Kelvin's injury.

I think we lose the following games:

Eagles

GreenBay

Dallas

@ Atlanta

Either Seattle or Indy.  Leaning towards Seattle now that they have Graham, otherwise I'd think this was our year to beat them.

As for loss #6:  I think it will be kind of random - maybe a let down against a team we're favored to beat - maybe Washington given that game comes after our hardest stretch.

Confident of a 3peat in our division.

Predict at least 1 playoff win.

fair point. Seattle was the only one i can't really fathom scorewise, and maybe the colts scoreline because of our record in prime time games, but as for the rest, I could see them happening.

I did a complicated analysis and accidently deleted it because I was adjusting my fantasy roster.

Basically it broke down to watching film from years past.  We are going 13-3 because of the Oline and the defense.

We honestly top to bottom are much better than pretty much everyone except for Green Bay and the Seahawks.  We will lose to

Philly. We will lose to either Green Bay or the Seahawks, not both.   And we will lose a division game because it's a division game.

It took until 11 wins for this post to get the first piece of pie? Thanks @Mr Mojo Risin I was wondering what post this was when you pied it this morning.
