Could the Panthers Possibly Run the Table?

Something OP needs to understand:

The NFL has no terrible teams. EVERY team is capable of winning a game on any given Sunday. There are no easy wins, even if you are better than the other team. As of right now, we can make the assumption that we are better than a lot of teams on our schedule. We have better personnel than the first two teams we faced, and there will be more personnel victories, but every game must be won on the field. It is extremely unlikely that we win all those games.

Every week, teams lose that most experts expect to win. We will inevitably lose some of those "easy win" games, and we will also lose some to teams that we are expected to lose to. It doesn't mean we are bad, it means we are an NFL team playing other NFL teams.

I believe we have a shot at 11-5/12-4 if the right guys step up at the right time.

We are nowhere close to playing our best football right now. We are missing our best NT and MLB. We will get those back next week. Cam looks amazing and the o-line has improved. That is huge.

Where it goes from there  depends on guys like Philly Brown, Norwood and Ginn. They need to make those catches that can end a game. Our game against the Texans should have been over by halftime. We had 2 dropped INTs and both Ginn and Norwood dropped two potential TD's that would have put them away.

We also need Funchess to start getting more involved. If he can become a difference maker I think we have a real chance. Eventually we are going to need to not only have enough talent to beat teams but also to make up for the times when the refs will screw us over. When the refs take a play away, make something happen on the next one. That has always been the biggest difference in our wins and losses in the Rivera era.

It is hard to go perfect in this league.  We'll lose a couple but hopefully we will be in each game.

What I will say is the Panthers are link a fine wine.  They grow better as time goes by.

We make it to the bye as a 4-0 team.   I see us in good shape to contend with anyone.  Our defense is going to get better and better.  As will the offense.

We find a rhythm this team CAN be as good as any.

One question.  Has any team gone 16-0  since New England did it in 2007 and Miami went perfect in the 70s?

Who can beat us?  Several teams including Atlanta. Tennessee. Seattle, Green Bay, Philly among others.  We also seem to play poorly a few times a year and lose to teams we should beat.

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
