Colin Jones in the slot...

Get out of our base 4-3 as much as This year? Dude we had the highest nickel formation in the league the past two years. Nickel was basically our base formation.

Exactly. Which is one of the main reasons people were questioning Shaq as our first rounder.  However, having Shaq and Klein allows us to have depth to match up with any personnel grouping in the league, although 3 WRs has become the default for most teams.

The weaknesses every team will pick on are AJ Klein, Roman Harper, Kurt Coleman, Tre Boston, and Colin Jones in man to man coverage.

Also, have the issue of speed receivers getting behind the safeties. Luckily QBs do not get much time to stand in pocket and take a deep shot with accuracy.

If an offense cannot establish the run between the tackles or run with their QB for big gains, then their only hope is to send out 5 receivers with a pick on a DB and toss it up deep over the safeties. Hope that you make it more than you turn the ball over. Anything lobbed up to a spot under the safeties will have a high chance of resulting in an interception.

Have to gamble against the Panthers D to win.

Where Jones excels is in the zone. The big plays he has given up are when we were in man coverage.

And from reading the comments doesn't seem to many of you understand this. Man coverage is when Jones has been getting burned, not zone. So, putting Shaq or any other LB out there to man the slot will produce similar results.

i don't know if anybodies noticed but the defense has been lights out since colin went into the slot. they were good before but the last 2 weeks the D is beating teams themselves. That doesn't necessarily have any thing to do with colin jones being in the slot but him being forced into action hasn't hurt the D obviously

    • If it’s all the same to you guys, I’d like to use this thread for Tuesday nights game as well to keep this hate going. I have a feeling Tuesday vs the panthers is going to be violent in that arena.    @LinvilleGorgecan you please add “and Tuesday” to the game thread?  They play the Panthers again Tuesday. Thank you sir!
    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
