2nd String Team

Given all the talk about resting or not resting starters, it got me thinking.  Would our pure second string team have a chance against anyone's starters in the NFL?

On Defense:

LDE: Ealy

RDE: Addison/Delaire

DT1: Love

DT2: Edwards

SLB: Jacobs

MLB: Mayo

WLB: Klein

LCB: Teddy Williams

RCB: Finnegan

Nickel: Colin Jones

SS: Marlowe

FS: Boston/Jones

On Offense, we would have:

LT: D Williams

LG: Reese Dismukes (PS)

C: Velasco

RG: Chris Scott

RT: David Foucault (ps)

WRs: Funchess, Bersin, Norwood, Byrd (PS)

RBs: Artis-Payne, Wegher

TE: Simonson

FB: Dickson

QB: Anderson

Just a fun thought.  Could this team beat anyone?  I think we get smoked at Corner.

Lovie Smith's wet dream! And Derek Anderson's worst nightmare. Seriously, I would like to see a lot of these (active) players get more touches down the stretch.

Outside of the o line and secondary... that team honestly isnt that bad.  I mean it's still bad compared to 1st stringers, don't get me wrong... but thats gotta be one of the better 2nd teams in the league.

The o line and secondary turn it into a bottom of the barrel poo tier team though if they were to go up against 1st stringers

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
