Should Panthers pursue Murray?

90% likely he wont be with the eagles next year.   Trade stew while you can still get something for him and pick up a guy 3 years younger who runs just as hard?  I think he wants to go back to Dallas though.

Thoughts? (please.. spare us the doom and gloom talk about talking about trades during the season, its a business)

Well since you've instructed us how we're allowed to respond...

No they shouldn't.  Here are reasons why that don't involve player trades mid-season or "doom and gloom"

  • He's a malcontent.  What happens when he's getting less red-zone touches than our QB?  Why seek out that sort of likely problem
  • I'm pretty sure he's not 3 years younger than Stewart
  • Running "just as hard" is not really valid.  Stewart fits our system and runs well within it.  Murray's stellar year in Dallas came as a "give him the ball and run him directly into the ass of a very good offensive line" back.  He didn't have to deal with a lot of the complexity our run game involves due to Cam being Cam.  He also didn't have to deal with a bad OL (which we do not currently have but our OL's performance is not at all what we expected and there's no guarantee he can survive without a good OL if it regresses)

In short: lolnowtf

demarco murray is garbage. His great year with Dallas was a product of an amazing offensive line.

Also, Murray is 27 ... Stewart is 28.

makes no sense at all.

Not that I want us to go out and sign Murray or anything, but he was a very good back long before the Cowboys offensive line got as good as it was/is.  He's definitely not garbage and is a victim of poor blocking and being a poor fit for Philly's running scheme.
