Rejuvenated Giants Target Panthers

After their Monday night win against a bad Dolphins team, the New York Giants fans and media are feeling like world beaters. 

First, a quick review of the Panthers vs the blundering NFC East so far this season... 

 

Philadelphia Eagles - October 25 

Philly fans - "Double Olsen, Stack the box"

Result - Panthers 27 Eagles 16

 

Washington Redskins - November 22

Redskins fans - "Double Olsen, Stack the box"

Result - Panthers 44 - Redskins 16

 

Dallas Cowboys - November 26

Cowboys fans - "Double Olsen, Stack the box"

Result - Panthers 33 Cowboys 14

 

And now here come the New York Giants...

But the truth is, the Giants are not a good football team. They are an average football team with two good play makers. 

Eli Manning against the Dolphins looked good, I must admit. He was stepping into throws nicely, and got the ball out decisively. When the hot an cold Manning is on the warmer side, he is a threat. 

Odell Beckham Jr is a talent. He is basically a slightly faster Deandre Hopkins, who the Panthers faced in week 2. Hopkins was held to 5 receptions and 53 yards. 

The Giants have exactly one path to victory this week while trying to keep up with the #1 scoring offense in the NFL .... 

Move OBJ around and exploit the injuries at corner the Panthers have had. 

OBJ won't win against Josh Norman. Norman, having just shut down Julio Jones, won't have much issue with OBJ. But move OBJ into the slot, and suddenly it is Colin Jones or Cortland Finnegan covering OBJ.... not a favorable match up for the Panthers to say the least. 

The Carolina Panthers will have their hands full this week setting in place a defensive game plan. 

The Giants defense isn't much of a concern. They are currently last in the league in yards given up per game, at 418. Even worse than the New Orleans Saints... yikes. I expect the Panthers to exceed their 32 point average this game. 

In short, if the Panthers can keep OBJ in check this week, it won't be close.

LOL at the Daily News front page.  So typical!

A bit worried about our secondary injuries and OBJ in the slot.  But at least we've seen Cam can win a big offensive shoot out, having just done so against Brees.  So, I'm confident the Panthers got this.  But we can't let down. (so cliche... yet so true)

Kinda like the hype around Seattle for beating an atrocious Ravens team and suddenly they are just world beaters

im sorry, if Jimmy Claussen is the QB ...well we know the rest 

Panthers might as well get used to being on top and teams bringing their best as to win is to be hated by those who don't...ask the Patriots so they need to rise to the challenge and learn to relish the hate.

Not even close.....Seattle is a very good team.  The Giants are a bad team.

      Director of College scouting should be next. I'd like to see the organization go after Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy who's a good friend of Dan Morgan back in their time in Seattle

      I always just go back to what I said at the time. Trade Burns to the Rams because it's a fantastic deal. I was screaming it. I'm still angry at Fitt over that. Right after he turned down the deal I said he needed to get into a time machine and go back and make the deal. Hate that dude. Ruined our team. Trading D.J was a major mistake because what matters most in the NFL is the passing game, so you never unload a proven #1 WR when there are other options. Always trade a defensive player over a WR if you have that option available. Fitt was precious about defensive players when we had a passing offense that didn't function. That's how know he was completely incompetent. The passing offense is the top priority, so until that is functioning all defensive players are possible trade fodder. At this point we're in a rebuilding year under a new GM and a QB who looks absolutely horrendous. It makes perfect sense, if you follow all of our moves, that we would be the worst team in the NFL. Of course we are. You can't screw up as a GM that many times over the years and not ruin the franchise. We're exactly where we should be, dead last, or bottom 3. Whichever you like. But this is the here and now. Dan did a good job getting our 2nd round pick back, and we won't know about the picks until they take the field in regular season games. We're in dark until then, but if they suck the Panthers media will hide it shamelessly. Remember when Young was supposed to be a football genius? Yeah he was rancid turds out there when live fire started. There is some hope. Either Young improves and we win more games, or he stays about the same and we draft a new QB in 2025. Either way the NFL will help us out of this jam, but all we need is for Dan not to screw it up.
