Baldwin has turned into a stud for SEA. #1 QBR when thrown to in the league. You all saw him save RW3 from an INT last weekend with his one handed catch over the middle. If he didn't get that down, I'm pretty sure the safety would have picked it. His hands are exceptional. He is a smart dude, and has spent lots of time with Steve Largent learning whatever he can from him. He studies the game hard, and practices really hard. Not only that, but he is incredibly passionate as a player. He is one of these guys who always figures out a way to have a chip on his shoulder. You all know what it is like to have a slot receiver who plays with a lot of passion (SS89).

Put him with any of the QBs that throw 40 times a game and he would be one of the top fantasy performers every year.

You would be stoked if Philly Brown could get to his level.

Drops may not be an issue but with him having the most snaps of our WRs by a wide margin and being 4th in production means something.

I'm honestly okay with the receiving corps we will have once KB comes back. If a stud receiver falls to us, and is better than any other talent on the board at our pick, then sure why not. But to target receiving talent? Nah. If Gman targets any position, and he probably wont, it's gonna be DL and OL.

Speaking of that, anyone know how this year's draft is looking for trench talent? @Mr. Scot?

I'm selling on this one.. especially given your state at WR this season, if there were ever a year for him to emerge as a Baldwin like player, it would have been this year. 

Baldwin is very similar to Golden Tate in that if he played on a pass happy offense, he'd have put up some monster numbers.  It's not a coincidence his stats spiked in a big way once the offense became more oriented to the pass. 

To me Philly Brown feels like a JAG type player.  I feel like you can find fast WR's with iffy hands really easily.  Baldwin slipped in the draft because Harbaugh essentially wanted to railroad him since the two guys didn't get along at all.

For a second. I thought that Igo was off his rocker.  But I can see what he's trying to do (if I squint). 

Baldwin has better hands,  is more physical,  has triple the confidence,  and flat out plays smarter.  

Now I am not saying that Philly cannot get there,  but I ain't betting my money on it.  Igo's? Sure! 

@Jeremy Igo probably should have said Brown could develop into our Baldwin,  or "I wish/hope that Brown turns into our version of Baldwin."

I want a sure-handed playmaker that runs exceptional routes and is a threat to score on any play in our receiving corps.  We really are missing that piece. 

Like you alluded to,  Gman is going to take the best player available on his board  regardless of position.  I hope some WR is it on the first couple of days.

Unspectacular 40 time for Philly Brown?  Uh he ran a 4.3 I believe. 

 

In any case, Brown may never be at Baldwins level simply because of the competition next year. KB coming back. Funchess rising. Olsen still here, Ginn, Hill coming back as well. Pecking order. If we draft another wr too.. He will need to work his ass off and more importantly catch the ball.
