Blandino on the no catch call

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

The ball never touched the ground at any time when he was not in control of it. It was a catch and everyone was dumbfounded after seeing the replay that the call was not overturned.

Lousiest job of calling a game I have seen. Multiple PI calls were never made that should have been. Talib being offsides on a kick. Not to mention the Talib guillotine attempt on Philly should have been an ejection.

Dominant play can overcome bad calls, but we weren't playing at near the level necessary to do so. A properly called game and we might have stood a chance.

As annoying as that was, even after the TD we had more then enough opportunities to win the game, so many times we managed to swing the momentum in our favour only to flush it straight down the toilet, heck, with 6 minutes to go in the 4th we had the ball and were down by 6

The toughest part about not getting that call "right" was it kept us deep in our own territory and then Miller made Remmers look like the 2nd string OL he is and sacked/stripped Cam for Denver's first TD.  If the correct call was made and Miller made the same play later, Denver has the ball on maybe the 20 or 25 and their offense has to put up the points.

We made too many mistakes and didn't play well enough to win this game, but poo like the above didn't help!

Agree 100%, it was a big moment, momentum changer but it didn't cost us the game.  We were 6 points down forever and should have scored at least twice but couldn't run the ball and when we did we fumbled it.

It's still very irritating to have something that seemed so obvious not be reversed... of course when Mike Carey thought it would be reversed I knew it wouldn't be...

EXACTLY my thoughts.  Yes, the refs were a problem.  (I'm not even going to go near the "rigged" conspiracy....).  But even with that bad call re: Cotch's catch and the terrible sequence that followed resulting in Cam's fumble & Denver's TD, we should have been able to overcome it.   Every time we were moving the ball, especially in the 3rd quarter, when we had the chance to get a TD and take the lead, we couldn't finish.  Penalties and turnovers kept killing our drives.

Think Blandino has it backwards. There's no clear evidence that the ball did touch the ground, but there is also no clear evidence that it did not. There's literally 3 frames where you can't see the nose of the ball (because of Cotchery's arm and the way he's holding the football). So, when you can't 100% see that a call should be overturned you let the play stand. Sucks. Cotchery had another drop that was even worse, he didn't seem to be on and when a guy who's been so solid in making the easy play all season in big moments, has that sort of trouble you can see how the other guys were probably playing very tight.
