Coples to Rams

I wanted Coples bad and thought he fit what we needed (pass rushing 4-3 DE with size, young) that fit DG's mold (reclamation project, upside, budget-friendly).  Given his UNC ties, thought Coples would be a good add, but In DG we trust.

Funny how the DE musical chairs continues......

Rams OUT: Chris Long  - Rams IN: Quinton Coples

Patriots OUT: Chandler Jones - Patriots IN: Chris Long

Cardinals IN: Chandler Jones

Between Price, Personality, Position, and Playing Time, I wouldn't rule out Personality as the big reason we didn't sign him. Gettleman wants players who hate losing, and Coples has that rep in the NFL of not trying hard

Obviously many Panther fans are Chapel Hill fans, while many are also not.  I get the vibe the Panthers FO is neutral at best with that school, and certainly don't let that sway their opinion.

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
