washington is a 7-9 or 8-8 team if cousins has a down year

nick foles threw 27 TDs to 2 INTs in a season once too

Cousins will come back to earth some no doubt, but the rest of the team is quite solid and has gotten better since last year even before Norman. McCloughan also drafts really well so I expect some improvement there as well. They'll be good even without an insane year from Cousins.

I have no ill will towards josh at all and will root for him in any game that does not affect the panthers playoff chances. I wish it could have worked for him to stay, but it seems to be what both sides wanted. Time will tell whether or not he will regret leaving a good situation for the higher paycheck.

You would think after losing the Super Bowl we'd have a lot more humble fans, but some of you still come off over cocky and arrogant. Redskins aren't some pushover team there on the rise and just like a lot of NFC teams are a few lives away from being consistently competitive.

You realize you're talking about the redskins, right?

This happens in the real world all the time and people don't get this damn salty about it. People leave for pay raises all the time. This is about setting him and his family up for life. He was holding the winning lotto ticket and he cashed it in. Hell, I would take the extra 35 million. I can't be pissed at a man for doing the exact same thing I would.

It is funny seeing people say "It's not about the money."  That's what it seemed to be about, but that is fine
Josh was a great guy in the locker room from what I could tell, and left it all out on the field.  He played out his contract and wanted what he deemed himself to be worth and possibly even more.  I can't blame him.

I'll hate to see him go, but just like with Smith we'll move on (hopefully not the same start as that season...but you get the point)

Uhh.......  Yeah.      Redskins will probably be in the playoffs also.    it's not like he joined the Browns or the Jags.

5yr...........  $75/M.................  4 yr.............. $44M.           I mean,  even if he took a pay cut for us and a miracle happened and we actually did win the SB,  that dude would still be giving up over $30M.           I know a few fans seem to think that money shouldn't matter,  and the players should take whatever,  in an effort to get a SB ring.      A SB ring isn't gonna help pay the bills 20 years from now,  unless they sell that SB ring.  lol.

40 million with a ring (or two) or 50 million without one.......  Endorsements with a SB ring vs endorsements without one.....  Playing with Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly or playing with.......  sorry I cannot come up with something that even comes close.

Sorry to do this but... it was 4 years and 44 mil from us. VS. 5 years and 75 mil from them. That is a difference of...um...let me think...yeah, 31 mil.

Hellz, the 31 mil difference alone is enough for him not to have to worry about no stinkin' endorsements.

one detail of this i've always wondered about...

is the guaranteed money paid all at once?  like does he get a check (or direct deposit, whatever) on redskins' stationary for $50 milliion?  is it paid in installments or is it structured in some other way?  i'd imagine whatever the signing bonus accounts for is paid up front but what about the rest?  is there a "rest"?

The guarantee, and signing bonus, are paid up front.

    • I think what's been useful about PFF rankings on a weekly basis is to see how certain members of the defensive backfield perform according to them. I find it hard to judge Nick Scott and some of the others the last few weeks, though he's had some plays, so these scores are helpful there. Though when Derrick Brown doesn't show up at all it's a head scratcher.  I know week to week is irrelevant but he had a monster game by most accounts.
    • Agreed the odds are stacked against us and I doubt we win it but you never know. I just know it's nice to be able to even have this conversation again.
