Brad Nessler has left ESPN for CBS and will eventually replace the network's SEC play-by-play broadcaster Verne Lundquist, according to a tweet from Foxsports.com's Clay Travis.

Nessler, 59, will do NFL games for CBS until taking over for Lundquist, 75, who has called SEC games since 2000.

whats going on at ESPN. Mass exodus.

Overpaid for rights fees trying to put competitors out of business and misforecasted that cable subscribers and carriage fees were going to increase when they have decreased. They are pretty massively in the red and have been cutting costs significantly the last few months.

I tried watching ESPN this morning for the first time in a long time.  I don't think I made it 5 minutes.  They were showing some 13-year old kid who did a science project on why Tom Brady is innocent when it comes to deflategate.  Like what?

Yeah, saw that also... Why they think crap like this is entertaining is beyond me.

I'm guessing there are only a select handful of people who they won't get rid of regardless of how much they get paid

namely Mike and Mike, SVP, and Chris Berman

almost everyone else is expendable to them I'm guessing

Two days ago Tirico would have been on that list. He did absolutely everything for them. If another company offers those guys more money and there is a directive from Disney, their parent company, that they can only pay people a certain amount then those guys could be gone as well. Bayless made them a lot of money and they couldn't match Fox's offer.

    • I'm salty every time I see someones mid picks become stars while we throw first and second rounders over and over and they all stink outside of Tet (who still has a lot to prove, imo)
    • There is a contingent that is total Bryce but they weathervane with the wind. When the good Bryce wind blows about once or twice a month we hear a lot from them. But they are always pro Bryce, they just don’t pipe up too much when he sucks. I can’t speak for them, as far as what they are looking at.    In a second contingent, the collective mind is made up. He has had had basically three years worth of starts that might include a top tier outing or two, a few second tier outings, offset by about the same number of bottom tier outings which actually may have the edge there.  The rest of his stuff is third tier and that is going to be the bulk of his starts. We want to move on. And we aren’t getting off of that hill until he puts us off of it. He has not.    There is a third contingent that has no conviction and definitely weather vanes. Bryce is good. Bryce isn’t good. Depending on the latest game. They will buy into 7 on 7 success so that should tell you something.
    • Nacua is really fuging good. He might be a better version of Cooper Kupp.
