Nice to see Norwell getting some appreciation:

It's almost impossible to get noticed when the center you're playing next to, Ryan Kalil, has been named to the Pro Bowl five times, fellow guard Trai Turner is one of the league's best young linemen and the team's left tackle, Michael Oher, had a movie made about his life.

Norwell quietly does his job at an effective rate. The undrafted free agent wasn't called for a single penalty in 834 snaps last season. During his first two seasons, officials tagged the Ohio State product for one infraction. That level of consistency shouldn't be undervalued.

The best possible compliment for an offensive lineman is never hearing his name called. Norwell's name rarely, if ever, comes up during games.

He looks like a wild buffalo roaming the plains of Montana in this photo

Not with that attitude we won't.

I think we can. It's one of the reasons why we said bye bye to Norman. Save that cash for the young studs.

They both will get paid pretty good but it wont be 100 million contracts a piece. Gettleman will get it done.

Why does every fugging topic about any player, regardless of how far away they are from their next contract come down to "well we won't be able to keep them so derrrr". We've given a lot more contracts out over the last few seasons than we've let people go. Just because they're not Twitter breaking contracts doesn't mean we're not retaining our talent.

bored of this sh*t

Between Norwell and Turner were set at Guard for a while

LT, (Williams), RT (Williams?) and Center have some long term questions

One would think Daryl Williams would end up being good at either LT or RT in the future

LT doesn't. We just extended Oher. Coaching staff is surely hoping D Williams steps up at RT. Center replacement will likely be drafted in the next year or two. I bet Kalil has another 2 years in him.

In the modern NFL, you don't keep even most of your stars (if he's one of the best at his position, he's a star).. modern NFL, you pillage the bottomof the pile year aftee year to afford yourself constantly fresh (young/cheap) guys to replace your stars. We can find more corners, we can find more guards, if need be.

There are only a few key positions where a star will get paid within DG's scheme.

Oher is 30 years old, there is no need for a LT in the immediate future, but it certainly is a future question mark

4 years from now. There's not much point in projecting 4 years from now, frankly.

    • lol well that kinda ended up working out in the end, even though I still don't have my jersey yet. Was supposed to ship by tomorrow this time, but just got another email saying it was delayed another 3 weeks and because it's been delayed so long, I had to tell them to keep the order or cancel it, but gave me a 25% off my next order as an apology. Well, my original fear came true and they are now selling the FUSE version (but still not the Blue unfortunately) before the one I ordered was ever shipped. But that's awesome, because I was able to use that coupon to order the FUSE instead and then cancelled the original order.  So I got the jersey I wanted for only $6.30 more than the crappier version costs, and it also says it will be shipped immediately and get here early next week, or 2 weeks before the other was now supposed to be shipped out.
    • I've watched this and think we are well underway.  Believe it or not, Bryce is a big part of this.  The way he bounced back with such grace.  And we've got a lot of young players who want to make their mark, Dave is giving them an opportunity.  I loved our draft.  I like the number of guys we brought in, and they will help build the culture we want under Dave.  We're getting closer, and I think we'll see more wins this year than most of the board. The right culture breeds winning, and winning builds the right culture.  Imho, it's coming.
    • As others have said it's both. One creates the other. But it also takes time sometimes years. And there have been teams lately with new car smell coaching staffs that looked like they were putting it together quickly but things came crashing back down to Earth. Sustainability is the key. For that to happen the meddling of our owners has to stop and they cannot be tempted to return to their ways over any bump in the road either.
