NBC’s Tony Dungy/Rodney Harrison: Panthers are the team to beat in the NFC; no Super Bowl hangover

Other than injuries, no reason they can't

Have you seen the Panthers secondary and all the speed rushers the Panthers will face with Remmer/Oher at OT?

Those are 2 major areas of concern. One was not addressed, and the other was made worse in the off season.

All the speed rushers? Von Miller, Khalil Mack and Justin Houston this year. What are the others? I don't know if I'd consider Mack a speed rusher but he's an absolute beast. That's three games. Name the others for me because all three of those games are still very winnable. The secondary is still a question mark I'll give you that although having 3 shitty qbs to start the season will help the confidence of the rooks in the back end.

Oh and please don't mention Vic Beasley lol dude is busting hard. We had a messed up practice week and Cam was up all night the day before for the birth of his son at the ATL game. He was absolutely manhandled our first meeting.

Have you seen Cam Newton and Luke?

every team in this league has flaws, we just don't know them as well as we focus on the  panthers

on a cross country flight, two years ago, the Raiders defensive line coach was sitting next to me and I was bemoaning the upcoming NFL season and the lack of talent the panthers  had along with Shula as OC

he turned and looked me and said with a laugh,  'you still got Cam, don't cha'

Serious question.. would you rather the Panthers do well and prove you wrong, or do poorly and prove you right? You're the most negative person on the board so I'm just trying to figure out where your head's at.

The Panthers, Cardinals, Seahawks, and Packers are clearly the top four teams in the NFC and I'd put them all in the top 6 in the NFL.

Barring injuries, I truly do think we are better than those other three teams. Think we would end up seeing the Pats, Steelers, or unfortunately, the Broncos from the AFC again.

I hope we see the Broncos again. I think the revenge factor and emotion would see us beat them down the same way we laid it on SEA first half of our playoff game last season

think you're right, as much as I hate to admit it- I think we underestimated the Broncos before the Superbowl and were way too lax going into the game

just my opinion

Broncos (Miller; Ware; Ray), Raiders (Mack; Smith), Chargers (Ingram; Attaochu; Bosa), and Chiefs (Houston; Ford), Falcons (Beasley; Freeney), Cardinals (Jones), Vikings (Griffen; Barr), and Rams (Quinn). Last season Remmers and Oher did not have to deal with the speed rush. All they had to face during the season was Beasley. It would not be until the playoffs that they would face a speed rush. The AFC West is loaded with speed rushers.

I know the Panthers have Cam and Luke. Cam's ability to take over a game is neutralized by a speed rush against the weakest part of the offense in the OTs. Luke's impact is neutralized when big receivers are allowed to get deep down the sidelines forcing him to make up for the secondary. I understand these weaknesses need to be corrected to strengthen Cam and Luke so they can take over every game.

Prove me right on the strengths of the team that I believe must carry this team (Kuechly, TD, KK, Star, CJ, Cam, Stewart, Olsen, Tolbert, Kalil, Turner, and Ginn as returner). QB depth is also a strength.

Prove me wrong on the weaknesses of the team I believe every team will aggressively attack (All CBs, Boston deep, Coleman as SS, Ealy, WR drops, and the OTs against speed rush).

Prove me right on the opportunities (KB returning from injury, Funchess in the #2 role, sneaking Ginn in as a #3, Shaq being a major factor).

Prove me wrong on the threats (WR depth, RB depth, TE depth, OL depth, DE depth, DT depth, LB depth, CB depth, S depth, Special teams coverage and aging Punter who former teams do not value). I believe it is a must that all the key starters stay healthy. One significant injury could derail the Panthers due to a lack of veteran/talented depth.

I see more strengths than weaknesses on the Panthers. I also see a lot of threats going into the season that have not been adequately addressed by the team. As long as the strengths hold up throughout the season and the opportunities I see are realized, then we will never encounter the cracks in the team's foundation.

I talk about all areas of the team. Most readers seem to focus on the negative and ignore the positive. I am rarely engaged on any of my strengths and opportunities of the team. Most seem to focus on my belief that the depth of the team is not sufficient enough for a strong next man up organization, or that I view one of their favorite players as a weakness.

I hope that helps.

Last year, I thought the Panthers would be 9 and 7 at best

in fact other than the Clausen and Weinke years, I have been wrong each year

what I have come to realize is sometimes it is just better to enjoy the sport and let it be

i pay a lot of money to be able to go and see them and I am just not going to get balled up in over analyzing them any more

The Panthers have more all Pros than any other team last year and all of those guys are returning . They also improved their punting game exponentially with Lee.  Are they weaker without Norman sure. How long will it hurt who knows but I do know from watching Bradbury, he knows how to tackle

the current MVP and probably the best linebacker in the NFL reside in Carolina and we are blessed to have them so as long as they are here, I'm enjoying the ride. There are lot of teams with first round  draft busts
