Air Force grounds pilots who buzzed Panthers practice

U.S. Air Force officials say four Georgia-based pilots are restricted from flight duties after their military jets swooped low over a football stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the Carolina Panthers practiced.

Four A-10C Thunderbolt IIs flew at low altitude over Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Monday, and the pilots will be on restricted duty pending results of an inquiry into the incident, officials at Moody Air Force Base in south Georgia said.

The pilots were low enough that they were able to wave at the players, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said.

"I like the fact that they waved at us as they went over," Rivera said.

The team was "most certainly caught off-guard," as players wondered what was happening. But Rivera said it was "pretty awesome" to see.

I was following the tweets when this happened, and it scared the crap out of every reporter I follow.

They were all talking about it.

I was in Korea the first time I say and heard one fire the guns into the side of a mountain .... as I said before it was AWESOME!!!! .... I hate that the aircraft is starting to show its age  and there is no plans for a replacement

Yeah, we need A-10's more than we need F-35's and F-22's.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
