Fine should also be on refs. A fine given for a hit/infraction where a ref stood right there and didnt throw a flag is a breakdown in the system. Just cant reconcile how such occured and a fine was given out, but just crickets in regards to the refs that let it happen. And no...personal fouls with helmet to helmet hits FAR  outweigh any other penalty and should not " offset"

All about the posture!                    If Cam is in the pocket.............in the process of throwing the ball,  that bastard better not bend his knees,  or lower his head in any way or anything else associated with a rb posture.

.........apparently,  within the pocket,  qbs lose all of their protections,  if a qb even hints at a RB posture.  lol.

lol...  qbs change postures multiple times in an instant,  during any given snap.    but sure,  let us use posture as the ultimate tool when determining a dirty hit/flag.  ......but..........lets use it only against Cam.

NFL commits $100M to player safety due to the fallout of the hits on Cam Newton's Head.

Darian Stewart gets fined $18,231 for his direct hit on Cam Newton's head because it jeopardizes player safety.

How does that add up at all?

The Commissioners bank account was getting low, he needed some play money, cleverly disguised.

Scenario: Team A is down by 3 with 1:00 left in the 4Q against Team B. Team A's quarterback has the ball on his own 30 after completing a decisive, accurate 10-yard strike. Team B sends a blitzing safety who leaves his feet to launch the crown of his helmet into Team A QB's earhole. The independent doctor places Team A QB in the concussion protocol. The reserve QB is forced to finish the game fresh off the bench and proves ineffective. Team B wins.

The NFL has made it loud and clear that this is an acceptable tactic. With an admitted history of playing dirty to win the game (see: SB50, Talib), is it that far fetched that this was Darian Stewart's intent? Today he will get a fine that he'll hardly notice, a price he will gladly pay for a W. The NFL wants to trumpet player safety and pretend concussions aren't an issue? SUSPEND players that resort to these bushleague antics.

At least the Broncos are in the minority, and many teams have the integrity to play within the rules and respect the safety of players on other teams.
