Possible explanation on the Bene timing....

Apparently Bene had not been practicing with the first team, that was kept quiet. This leads to me believe the following:

Coaches may have thought "Lets  let Tampa Bay lick their chops at the Panthers-Falcons film all week in regards to Bene and let them game plan and practice for it all week. Them Friday, we make a change replacing him with an unknown."

Could explain why they waited so long to release him. Why give the opposition a heads up on Tuesday?

Hmmmmmm. Conspiracy Theory #4. But a good one. Nothing happens in the NFL without a reason, a plan. Along the lines of "Cam may still play" so TB has to prepare for 2 QB's.

man that sounds like an really asshole employer letting him work all week then firing him on a friday....im sure he will dry his eyes with 100 dollar bills

I was let go my last day before vacation, on a Friday. No 100 dollar bills though. :(

Perhaps, also teams now have their rosters set for Sunday, less likely to do a waiver wire pick up over the weekend, so hope we can add Bene back to PS.

But in general, this move doesn't impress me and certainly doesn't encourage me.  Things in Panther-land just don't feel right.  Everything is out of sync this season.  Feel like someone has stolen our team's heart and our coaches' wisdom and good sense.  But I'm pretty grumpy about life in general right now.  It's been a tough week at work.

    • well, players dictating things only works if you have the right collection of players to dictate things.  and in all honesty, not sure if we can answer if we do or don't as fans given......there are no Thomas Davis types around that we know are actually about X and Y (based on years showing it).  Collective team is too new to us to know what these dudes are really about in terms of players carrying the burden of culture.
    • Moore can be put in one of the vet spots on IR. No one will be checking for him at the start of the season. But I would be very perturbed if we tried to go all Gettlemagic and stash an obvious talent like Horn on practice squad like we did Butker. If we can get through this year, next year it will be obvious Moore and AT will be gone, starting namely with AT's contract.
    • Culture change comes from the top down, not from drafting a 3 and no D guard. I doubt Lamelo is gonna take his cues from this 20yr old kid lol. If Brandon Miller couldn’t change the culture with how good he is and how much he hustles on both ends, Kon Knueppel sure as hell ain’t changing it. Ace Bailey by all accounts is also a great teammate and hard worker, btw, who was drafted by a team he supposedly didn’t want to go to yet he immediately bought in. And he’s got actual length and tools on both ends of the floor. I feel this pick is going to age like milk rather quickly.
