If he got a concussion idk how looked like he got the wind knocked out of him badly. No replay showed any hit to the helmet. Confusing

concussion might have happened the previous play.

hyperventilation is also a body's response to head injuries. hyperventilating an intubated patient will lower cranial pressure, for example.

Considering the blatant hold on Coleman about 3 plays before that, the defense should not have even been on the field at that point. The NFL in the obvious decree to the officials to keep games close is ruining the product. I hope like hell that Luke is ok, but I would completely understand if he walked away.

From somebody who has had three concussions, including one that had me freak out like that, that's a concussion. Can see it in his eyes. The trauma mixed with the confusion and fear of "what just happened?" is all over his face. Sit him until he's 100% for sure, so at least a month. Just my opinion.

Feel free to tell me to fug off, but why in the world would you choose "lightsout" as your username after having so many concussions? There is some irony in that somewhere.

Just got my first this weekend while playing flag football. Very minor head contact if any and I lost all short term memory and couldn't retain any information past 30 seconds or so. That jolt from the change in momentum is all it takes. Its scary stuff, especially if it made him just completely break down like that.  With his history and his position, this is very worrisome.

Man, this season just blows.

I saw everything up through the saints first fg while down by 20 in the 4th qtr, then i went comatose.  I woke up this morning realizing i fell asleep on the game and expecting to check in and see some great news, because surely we didnt blow it again?  Right?

And worse than blowing the lead, I find Luke was carted off for a possible concussion and see the video of him sobbing...  part of me wishes we just forfeited all of 16 before it even started.

From the video, it doesnt look like that play would cause a concussion, but then seeing his reaction afterwards, I dont see how it could be anything bu a concussion. Ron said in his presser afterwards when asked about the crying that it could be because Luke is just a guy that loves to play and compete.  And i could believe that, but that was an awfully blank stare he had combined with a distraught, worried, and almost child-like fear.  It was distrubing to see.

Then again, someone else mentioned the possible blow to the torso and it could've been a sternum injury.  Ive read about people suffering a bruised heart from such blows and that it momentarily could stop breathing.  I also heard Jeff Fisher say once that Steve McNair told him he was retiring after suffering his broken sternum.  So, it may have just been that scary for him.

Either way, it was distrubing, and i certainly hope it wasnt a concussion.  Tough to watch.  Get well soon, Luke!

Regardless it was painful to watch.  Kinda makes football seem pointless. It wasn't fun this season anyway and now the best player in the NFL won't be playing for a while. He was one of the few reasons I tuned in. The guy gives 110% every time he steps on the feild regardless of the score.

back of his helmet as he fell down.  It's scary that a hit like that could cause a concussion...meaning this could be something that could become more regular for him.  We might be smart to lock down Klein in the offseason.  Regardless, I pray he's alright, if he stays healthy, he will make it to canton.

I doubt that was what caused it.  It was likely a culmination of hits throughout the game and then the running back unloaded on him and through him backwards which triggered the full effect.  How do you think it was TD grazing his helmet?

In high school, I was the captain middle backer who jumped around and celebrated every big play we made. Sort of developed a signature "lights out" signal by crossing my arms above my head. Our defense embraced that and so we started striving for lights out defense. The school was still making and selling lights out shirts as of a few years ago, from what I heard. I made this account not long after high school, so that's the explanation.

But yes, it's ironic as hell.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
