So, after yet another Shipwreck Ron debacle in Oakland, having Kalil and Gradkowski IR'd, following Luke suffering one of the hardest concussions to watch on live TV, following the NFL allowing open season on our franchise QB and league MVP in Cam throughout most of the season, and all of that cumulating in one of the worst seasons by a team to ever reach the Superbowl the season prior and likely yet another two seasons gone without back to back winning records, it had me thinking...

The Browns fans have long been considered the most downtrodden fanbase in possibly all of sports, but most definitely in the NFL.  But, I think that's a bit unfair.  They did win championships prior to the Superbowl era and they did have great success at various periods since, they just never won the Superbowl.

But, as a Panthers fan, I think it may be worse to experience such extreme highs without actually achieving the ultimate goal and then immediately follow that up with a manic swing to the opposite end of the success/failure spectrum and flail around magnificently in record-breaking ways.

It's a sad, slow crawl to the end at this point, so it had me thinking this morning to pose this question.  If you can answer it as objectively as possible, which fanbase has it worse?  I seriously think there is an argument to be made for our case, because at least if you have are a Browns fan, at some point you learned to temper your expectations (and not to mention, most Browns fans are also Cavaliers fans, who happened into unbelievable "luck" with multiple #1 picks, Lebron, and ultimately a championship, so they have some solace).

What do you think?

The Browns and there isn't a rational argument otherwise. Just look at the infamous Browns starting QB list since 1999. Derek Anderson (Panthers backup) is the best QB they've had since then.

It's like asking, "Is it better to live in your parents basement your entire life and never having friends or a girlfriend, or having great relationships, taking the good with the bad?"

    • Seems to me that the Bucs have less fight in them now than they had in week 16. The real test is going to be if the Panthers can sustain focus and discipline throughout. With the Bucs being at home, maybe that gives them a little boost of confidence and energy.  Wouldn’t it be something if for ONCE the Panthers came out and dominated from the opening snap and just took this shook Bucs team to task?  If the Panthers see-saw form follows, we are in line for the W. Hard to say we have momentum but we do have a pretty clear pattern of following a loss with a win.  I’m going to say 24-16 Panthers!!
    • When Parcell’s said Bryce better “walk on water”…..the implied concern wasn’t that the tiny QB could survive being hit.  It was acknowledging he would have to be extremely special to overcome the handicaps he would face at this level.  Which he isn’t and can’t.  which isn’t just being hit.  It’s being able to play in an NFL pocket and make NFL throws from it….and that ultimately is Bryce’s problem.  He doesn’t play well from a NFL pocket and can’t make all the throws as needed.  He can’t see as others can.  Which impacts the throws he does and doesn’t take.  It also impacts him bailing and killing plays and turning them into scrambles/dead plays
    • 9:30 kick off here in Scotland, which is better than the 01:20 early hours of Monday that I feared. Will definitely be watching, but probably wouldn't if it had been 0120 as I need to be up for work at 05:45. Falcons Saints is 6pm on the Sunday so will watch that too if it becomes relevant
