I was sure this would be Stewart's last year but now have my doubts.   I have seen nothing out of the backup RBs that suggest they could carry the load.   After the "Norman"  situation,  I don't see Gettleman making a similar move this off-season.

I do hope we bring someone in and get back to that one-two punch that we used to be so successful at.

Some of you are going to be very disappointed.

Stewart is pretty much gone. He's been beat up physically, has no line to run behind, and we get almost $5 Million to cut him.

$5 Million dollars would get us the best back in the draft and leave us with money left over to put towards extending guys like Short and Turner, if we so choose, or building a better line for our new RB and Cam to perform behind.

I love Stewie as much as anyone the Panthers have, but I just really see Gettleman looking at the bigger picture.

With the state of our OL, letting Stewart go would be pretty damn dumb unless we have a viable option waiting in the wings.

Viable option?

We know Gettleman has no clue what a viable option is. He finds a shiny new project in the bargain bin he can work on and cuts a veteran who has proven he can get the job done.

Stewart will be gone in the first week of free agency while a new used up free agent or rookie back struggles behind some OTs that are weak and overpaid.

We know what to expect.

4.75 Mil in cap space says no.

We'll draft Fournette or Freeman and net $1 Mil at least from letting him go.

I don't want to see it happen, but I am about 95% sure it is going to happen.

I don't know, man. I always thought he would be let go for cap reasons after this season too. But with all of the cap room we have and with RB being a need, I'm starting to learn towards him being here another year. I think we still draft a RB high, too, though. But drafting a RB and letting Stew go does not solve our lack of depth at RB issue.
