What if Steve Smith Sr. coached Panthers WRs next year

Pros and Cons.

He is highly competitive and since he isn't playing anymore maybe he can pass that intensity that made him great onto some of the younger players.    Than again, I could see him jacking someone up because they continually doing it the wrong way.

The biggest point.  Some of the greatest of all time sucked at being a coach.

Actually, I think he could be a good coach. But he needs separation first, and an 'assistant' in front of his title.

He will be a high school coach. That would not surprise me at all.

Brad Hoover is a high school coach right now, and apparently he's terrible at it.  Parents were actually yelling at him to pay attention to the game at points this past year, and not as hyperbole.

Smith would likely be a terrible coach. As a player he wouldn't even acknowledge rookies and held petty grudges and let his emotions out of control. All things which would make him an awful coach.  Besides he wouldn't want to take a huge paycut when he has been preparing himself for either a career in broadcasting or finance for years.

    • I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired (or out) after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.
    • It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
    • I always thought of him as an uptight military family dude, didn't know he needs to wash that mouth out with soap lol.
