What if Gettleman does this for the 2017 draft?

How would you feel if we drafted Leonard Fournette in the 1st round. And Christian McCaffrey in the 2nd? It's possible, we could run McCaffrey as a slot receiver. Honestly I don't think Gettleman would favor the offense like this. But damn it's nice to dream about how awesome our offense would be with those two shiny additions.

That's actually a good point. Frustrating as it may be spending that many draft picks on cornerbacks in a 2 year span, if you look at our draft position we have a pretty high percentage chance of landing the #1 Cornerback whether that be Marlon Humphrey , Marshon Lattimore, or Quincy Wilson that's very fluid before the combine. Right now Hooker and Adams are the primier defensive backs that are supposed to go before any CBs come off the board , you can assume at least one team above is is going to pick a QB, another team will pick Myles Garret, and another one will take Jonathan Allen. Thats already 5 out of 7 picks gone .

Actually we'll probably be lined up to be able to select the best WR, RB, TE, OT, and CB all at the same time. I think its a waste to get a DE in the top 10 not named Garrett .

OP what you suggest is really unlikely. McCaffrey is supposed to be the #3 RB in the entire class. If we take Fournette at 8 thats a hell of a lot of teams that pick before we pick again in the 2nd, you think McCaffrey will slip past them all? Teams that come to mind are the Packers and Patriots at the end of the round, and then any of the top 7 teams in round two McCaffrey will be a steal even at #1 or #2 in the 2nd. No way in hell unless we traded up back into the late 1st to snag him which wouldnt be worth the picks we'd have to give to achieve that I think...

I think teams are going to be widely divided on McCaffrey. Teams who want to utilize a more traditional power running scheme probably won't think too highly of him. Teams who want to utilize their RB as a jack of all trades type player who is just as much of a threat in the passing game as he is the running game will probably love him.

Im hoping on fournette - OJ Howard (trade up to late 1st using comp 3ed) - Rod Johnson - Lawson (slips to the 4th) - 5th traded for Pryor - 6th Kicker (gano = big cap savings) - 7th don't care.

If we go back-to-back in this draft, tho... my money is on it being Barnett/Taco

Oh, and Reiff or Kalil in FA as our big ticket... then a bunch of space fillers.
