Good Hands OJ

We finally have a top 8 pick again, and I swear if we waste it on a TE, I will be furious. Not saying he is a bad player in the slightest, but a TE does not warrant a top 10 pick unless you will be utilizing him as a WR, which even then it wouldn't be worth the pick tbh

Don't think he'll be the pick at 8, but I'd be okay with it/trust in the staff. Outside of K or P, I'm beyond the whole "so and so position can't be taken here" arguments.

I mean seriously, if you love a guy, and think he's a future Pro Bowler, who gives a poo where you take him? The same argument gets made with Guards. Don't know about you, but I'll take Trai Turner or Zack Martin in the Top 10. If you think OJ can be a future Olsen replacement/damn good player, you take him.

Or use 2 TE sets more.

You have faith in Shula to do that? I sure as hell don't. Even if you COULD guarantee me that we would solely run our offense based on 2 TE sets, he STILL wouldn't be worth a top 8 pick imo

We used it a lot in the preseason. I guess we figured we didn't have the personnel to run it and scraped it when the season began. But I wouldn't let Shula's incompetencies lure us away from a player we believe can replace Olsen. I feel this is a do or die year for the whole coaching staff anyway.

I want an instant starter and contributor

i don't want another 'two to three year to learn guy'.

getting too old to wait on miracles that don't happen

if they feel Howard can start immediately and make every body around him better including augmenting the blocking of what I am sure will be not the greatest tackles  in the world, not drop balls, and help the MVP from 2015 look like a MVP again, all for it

Same with RB.

Lets face it, Olsen. Great receiving, not a great blocker.  Dickinson, forget about it.  WRs, terrible. RBs need a serious talent infusion   The Panthers have quite possibly the worst offensive talent in the league now that Newton can't hide it all anymore  and outside of Olsen, I'm not sure any of our starters could be starters on our division rivals.

Here is hoping Gettleman is better at other positions then WRs...Funchess was the same player in college, no separation, questionable  hands, and he still traded to move up and get him

Shula is one that has been ASKING for another TE, so he can run 2 TE.

Whether he is worth the pick at 8, is purely opinon based here on the huddle.

I know I'd be thrilled to have Howard as a Panther.

Wouldn't mind it. He seems like a very good college Tight End who consistently got the better of arguably the best defense in college football. You would hope his college skill would also translate to NFL success. If we use him with Olsen we could do some serious damage in the passing game, and beef up Cam's protection if he's a good enough blocker.

But realistically, knowing where we are picking in the round 1 if the picks above us go as expected, we will most likely be gettting the 2nd or 3rd ranked DE or the 1st or 2nd ranked CB. If We're lucky we get Hooker, Adams, or Fournette if theres an early run on QBs and one or two curveball picks are made.

That's grip. I've been involved in some strength stuff, larger hands are better in vast majority of feats. Think of your hand and in the place of fingers are pliers. Normally the bigger&longer the fingers/pliers, the more strength/power they are capable of. True everyday man strength comes form forearms, not your biceps. A great Grip comes form training your forearm. Grip strength gives you a control factor. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°
