There's literally no reason to re sign Remmers at all. You don't sign someone who is a liability for depth. 

Just because he's willing to go stand and get blown by on any spot of the line doesn't make him versatile. 

Its guys like Remmers that a GM needs to be able to replace for practically nothing cost wise. Especially a GM whose suppose to be some draft wizard

Remmers is depth. He'd be fine as a backup on the cheap since he knows the offense.  You're just overreacting because that's what people do on here.  I get it, but we can't have all pros at every position and at every backup spot like some people on here think we can

I don't expect us to shop at Tiffany's. I was hoping for Belk, though. I think the salary cap is a sham, to some extent. You know who signs the big free agents every year? The same teams that do it every year. Just maybe, some GMs know how to work it, without having to go through cap hell for years on end, like we are led to believe.

Good GM's find depth for cheap. The same way we found Remmers is the same way you replace Remmers. 

You don't pay for "depth" in a league where money always seems to be tight. Let me put it this way, you don't pay to keep someone you hope never sees the field. 

Knowing the system isn't a good enough reason to keep someone like Remmers. Any "depth" replacement signing will obviously have more than enough time to learn the system.

I'm not being a Debbie Downer, I'm simply staying the fuging facts here. This team NEEDS GOD DAMN HELP AND NEEDS HELP NOW GOD DAMN IT. The fuging falcons just nearly won the fuging Superbowl because WHYYYYY??? THEY BROUGHT in guys on the o line to help their lethargic ass pathetic blocking. Their fuging sorry ass excuse for a fuging o line, while we sit on our fuging asses eating Twinkies all fuging day long rolling with mother fugers like Mike fuging Remmers what the fuging fug ??? Cam needs to just ask for a fuging trade this is a fuging pathetic excuse for a fuging organisation and franchise, I love Cam Newton but I loathe the day we drafted him because this city. He's a terrible beat writer who once wrote a whole article (incorrectly) about DE positions. 

Contracts and the salary cap are a funny thing. He's going off of the annual avg. That's dumb as poo. Signing bonus, guaranteed money, backloaded deals, etc. There are numerous ways to point out his errenoneus reasoning. 

Granted, a decent chunk will go towards taking care of our own, but the reason the golden rule is to not freak out until the contract details are announced is because there are countless ways to manipulate cap hits. Plus, if that's the golden rule, then we def shouldn't freak out when David Newton writes another misguided article speculating on things that are too big for him to understand.

Meh I don't mind him using these averages or guesses to prove a point. Though I agree that his figures seem a little off, its still a useful tool. He's right that we can use up those funds quickly.  DG probably isn't going to pay a premium to keep Remmers, Addison, or CJ. I do think he will offer them all fair deals to come back and play because each has a role on our team.

We all know the cap gymnastics that GMs have to do; we saw it first hand when DG dug us out of the hole.  I could see Star getting a long-term contract with relatively big signing bonus spread out over it, the same for the Guards when they come due.
