Which DE is worth a shot in this years draft

I'm not a draft guru and do not follow the pre-draft  speculation closely. Wirh Ealy gone, that leaves Addison, Johnson, Peppers, and Horton. Add Delaire to the mix I guess, and that's the DE group.

What do those who follow this stuff feel they can get with one of their many picks who is worth a damn. Johnson is older and injury prone, Peppers going on 37. Horton not a pass rusher and Delaire is a jag. Addison is the guy on the rise. What can we expect DG to do in the draft to infuse the spot with new talent.

I feel like I've posted this in every thread but my opinion is Taco Charleton. While I do believe Solomon Thomas is going to be a good player as well, Charleton just has that prototype DE size and athletic ability Gettleman covets

Yeah Charleton has the frame of a JPP,  Ziggy Ansah, or Chandler Jones. I don't want him but he is a true 4-3 DE

There is Myles Garrett and then there is a mile and a half distance to the next set of DE's.  Whether Solomon or Barnette, I am not crazy about either at 8.  If Fornette, Admas and Hooker are gone, I'd love to drop back to 12 w Cleveland, picking up an early 3rd.

at 12,  Solomon or Barnette, OJ Howard or a WR would all represent good value

Taco doesn't have just the prototype size. The guy can flat out play. I've watched plenty of Michigan games, the guy is straight dominant against top flight competition. He's an absolute force. Again this doesn't mean Solomon Thomas is trash, he has a serious motor and can certainly get after the QB. I would be more than excited to get any one of these guys, with Barnett being behind both of them.

    • yeah, I can get a little of that.  But that's not what he is posting in his argument just now though.   He said people wouldn't even concede to the literal ability to do it when pressed on the literal ability.  I have never seen that.  He maintains it exists somewhere.  I mean, using anomaly games to make arguments about players just isn't the way.   There wasn't a defender within 10 yards of our guys on 2 of those 3 throws Sunday.  No one within 5 on the 3rd.   That's not Bryce Young answering questions about his play downfield..  That's Bryce Young taking advantage of coverage busts by a bad D.  Which hey, that's part of the game too.  Recognition and seeing the field.   It can't totally be dismissed.   That's still good play.  You want your QBs to make those plays.  But it's not getting into the long standing critique of BY IMO.
    • Deserved, I wouldn’t use that word. Asked for? For sure. Am I upset over it? No.  People forget that AT was throwing his helmet in frustration last season over his QB’s ineptitude. The same QB was pretty inept to start this year, no guarantee AT would have helped him in those games any more than he did last year.  Just sayin.  And Dan doing him a solid probably did not go unnoticed by players around the league. I think it increases his rep with potential FAs. It sure can’t hurt it.
    • You think that was the fault of the guy that was lighting it up or maybe the bums around him? Funnily enough, those bums are still being bums in his absence. Who would have thought!
