Am I the only one who thinks Ealy thrives in NE?

I know I'm not in the locker room or on the practice field with the team, obviously, but I think the Panthers gave up on Kony Ealy too soon. Just one year ago he was touted as our next great edge rusher, after a sensational Super Bowl 50, and then he has a very lackluster season in 2016 and we dump him. I understand the Panthers get a slight move up from the comp. round in the 3rd to the late 2nd, but we also lose a DE (who does have potential) which we would have to accommodate in the draft regardless of trading Ealy or not...now we will definitely have to use one of our first three picks on an edge rusher and quiet possibly in the 1st round. If there's a pass rusher that we can't pass on at #8, Gettleman would have to pounce.

But just the thought of Belichick and the Patriots seeing something in Ealy would make me second guess trading the kid... a year with Peppers? Who knows how that could've affected his growth... but now we'll have to watch from a far and see how he pans out in New England. I just have a feeling we'll see him go into something pretty special there... best of luck to Kony really... just hope we're not looking back on him like Geno Adkins...

Probably puts a chip on his shoulder. I think his play will elevate, but whether he mentally has it will be determined soon.

We're going into next season with clear starters at DE, and Ealy is in his contract year. Wouldn't have him starting here anyways.

New England allows him to come out and prove he may just have it in him, or prove he's a one time showup. Him playing with nobodies at o-line in his division will probably help.

Whether he shows up or not doesn't matter. He would've been gone with us next year either way; whether he breaks out for a big contract or disappoints and gets cut.

the pats just as often cut these players as they pick them up. idk where they get this reputation as this team that just brings out the very best in every player. they couldn't make terrell mcclain or brandon lafell into demigods so why should we believe that they'll convert another one of our recently departed marginal players?

Just now, L-TownCat said:

Did the Pats switch to a 4-3? If not then that means they're gonna try him at a new position.

if he works out then their gamble worked but we never would have done it here so kinda irrelevant.

From all counts Patriots have always been a 4-3 for a long while.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
