Who is in charge of the panthers right now?

We're in trouble. Maybe Kalil isn't panning out, i was skeptical about that contract. Also I have a feeling that Big Cat never knows what's truly going on, other than what's being reported to him. If he doesn't like it he makes drastic decisions.

Unfortunately it seems to be the players, as it was under Hurney.

While having player input and them feeling a vested interest in the team can be a good thing; it doesn't seem like the Panthers know a middle ground under JR.

Huge contracts to aging veterans coming up! Future success be damned!

I mean Kalil and the rest of the Panthers have been on vacation for weeks and training camp hasn't even started. I'm not sure how you could come up with that hypothesis.

JR still remains the problem with this franchise. As much as TD and Olsen does for the community, the idea of just letting them go after the Smitty and JNo fiasco probably didn't sit well. But JR needs to realize this is a business so the next GM will over pay a couple of guys in their mid 30s. No, I don't want to see them go, but at the same time, they could stay for less.

Jerry Richardson has been, and is still in charge.  I believe his hand was behind a lot of the crazy contracts that Hurney put together, and he probably was right there next to Hurney in disbelief when Peppers decided to leave.  He's not going to get a yes-man, but he is going to get a second in command who will either be good at the cap/contracts (Hurney) or at scouting (Gettleman).

Hurney took at 1-15 team to the Super Bowl in two years.  Gettleman took a 6-10 team to a back-to-back-to-back division winner and a Super Bowl in three years.  So you can freak out, but JR hasn't done a bad job at finding GMs--the only other one he's hired was Bill Polian, who also did pretty well while he was here.

Now if he decides to give Rivera control of Players/Personnel, then you can begin the freakout.

    • I mean, no I’m not going to panic when he got 2 Qs and looked great in 1 and looked not great in another (let’s not mention the drop).    Yeah we finally have a team that would be considered average offensively around him. Let’s roll this season.
    • The woe is me everything but Bryce sucks mantra is stale af my friend. Look nobody here is going to argue with the fact Frank Reich was not a good head coach. At the same time. Bryce Young is now in his second season with his second coaching staff and a handpicked young offensive head coach who has been known for working with QB's such as Baker and Geno. As far as the offensive pieces around Bryce we have the 4th highest salary cap allocation (that might be even higher now after the new Moton deal) dedicated to the OL in the entire league. We have 2 first round WR's one of them 8th overall the first time we've ever selected a WR that high in franchise history. And the fact of the matter is Bryce Young did not have a good preseason. It's not the first time it's happened either. We all hope to see he and the rest of the team flip a switch in week 1. But we should all be able to agree that the offensive performances we've seen from the entire QB room (Bryce included) in preseason was simply unacceptable.
    • We have seen Bryce play… what… 9 games with AT BEST what one would consider NFL average WRs? You just can’t see the forest for the trees and keep going back to your lazy take of revisionist history.    he looked AWFUL Y1 with the worst coaching I’ve ever seen in the NFL and one of the weakest WR rooms I can recall. He looked awful first half of y2 and great second half of y2 with average coaching and average skill position. I don’t know where this elite talent argument even comes from.
