Can't see how it can be anything other than undecided at this point. I liked most of Dave's football moves, but at the same time, I oftentimes didn't care for the way he handled them.

I'm not optimistic that we get a straight answer from JR.  I think it would likely leave blood on the hands of a number of players who were upset with the mean man.

I'll take a break from shitposting for a minute to say that "yes" or "no" are too cut-and-dry to describe this situation because it's nothing that can be truly decided upon for a couple of years.

Is he firing him because of inflexibility? 

Should TD and Olsen really ever have to go public about their contract details? If Dave wasn't telling TD and Olsen to kick rocks maybe it could have been handled in house?

Is this the other shoe after Norman last offseason? 

Is this a philosophy thing?

Can't decide if I agree with the dismissal or not. Regardless, what are the arguments for how this will affect the players once camp starts? Does this actually bring turmoil to the players? Does that affect how they play once the season starts? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how. If anything, I would think it relaxes someone like Olson who now doesn't have to worry about balling out to get the pay he deserves from DG.

I've been down the middle on Gettleman since the Smitty fiasco.  He has definitely done some good things, but it's been balanced out by not good things.  Getting us out of the cap hell while not sinking to the level of the Browns and Jaguars has been nothing short of miraculous.  But the way he handled Smitty, Gross and Norman was terrible, the way he handled the LT spot since the way he handled Gross has been terrible.  His drafting has been overall pretty good, but he's had some high picks that have yet to pan out and might never do so (Shaq, Butler, Ealy, Funchess, jury's still out on KB to be honest).  Yea, Shaq has looked decent at times but I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest he's ready to take over for TD.  That's three first round and two second round picks that are questionable at best.

So in regards to my opinion on the move, in a vacuum with no other factors considered, I'm neutral.  He has been the best GM we've had, I think.  But he has definitely not been flawless by a long shot.  We can certainly do better.  But if you factor in the timing of the decision, I'd have to be firmly against it.
