Yep. It's Happening: "#Panthers owner Jerry Richardson and Marty Hurney meeting today, league source said. Expected to be named interim GM."

We haven't even begun the season, or found a permanent replacement for Dave, and yet everyone is already jumping ship?

You dont fire the GM two months before the regular season and then bring back the same sh%tstain (temp or not), that sent this team into a black hole and expect optimism.

Just go look at his horrible drafts in the past. Past the first round, he was straight garbage and had no eye for talent, which is why the TEAM was never a contender year in and year out because he could not build a FULL team together. The future is bleak my friend. We took 5 steps back as a franchise yesterday.

Yeah, you're completely and utterly wrong. If anything you have it backwards. Gettleman is the horrible drafter.

Hurney found Josh Norman, Greg Hardy, Gary Barnidge, Brad Nortman in late rounds. All Pro Bowlers. He found other pieces too. Lots of players he drafted late stayed and played in the league for a long time. Just go look it up yourself. Geoff Schwartz, Nick Hayden are two that come to mind. Or how about the 7th round nickel cornerback Captain Munnerlyn the Panthers just resigned? Let's go for some more with Evan Mathis, Charles Johnson, Ryan Kalil.

This team was built on Marty Hurney's foundation. It's a lie to say otherwise. Dave Gettleman since joining the Panthers has made sure this organization has had the fewest draft day selections in the league. The antithesis of the Patriots way. His "eye for talent" netted us players such as Devin Funchess for three picks.

FreeFua doesn't understand football. Don't worry. Your not crazy.

Like I won't take Cam, Olsen, TD, or Luke away from Hurn-dog. Great picks. All first round guys and all were great draft picks. But the money he gave to guys like Godfrey, Anderson, Williams, Mare, Beason, etc. it was all terrible. Say what you will about Gettleman but he got the same if not better results from the guys he replaced those guys with for a FRACTION of the cost. That's not even me touting Gettleman as a savior so much as criticizing how terrible Hurney was. Dude could have gotten the same results for way cheaper if his lips weren't so firmly around the shaft of his buddies.

how the fug is this tread 7 pages in less than 30 min .. I thought all you guys were working or on vacation in middle of a Tuesday

This is like Christmas.  Giving lots of folks a reprieve from the TB which is always a good thing.  Thought we had to go thru one more week of summer boredom but football has arrived.  The sky has fallen even before the first player set foot in Chateau de' Wofford.  Gotta be some kind of record.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
