Fournette's never been the most agile. The fact he barely took part in much combine drills that really determine his agility already raises suspicion.

He wins with downhill running and brute force. His cuts are ones that force defenders to take bad angles at him, but they aren't elusive style cuts. Think of him as a big ol' massive truck that takes a bit to get to full speed (i.e. has to get 1 yard beyond LoS at least).

He's not good at cutting or adjusting at the line of scrimmage or before. If a defender can penetrate and get him to force and adjust, chances are the defender wins. He's deadly if he gets his downhill run lane when a QB's under center where he gets to full speed and can use that to truck and force defenders to take bad angles.

Fournette has sub-par vision. He needs a lot of work to recognize the defense, analyze his offensive linemen's blocking, and recognize the most beneficial path to take. That's why LSU usually underwent a downhill run scheme for Fournette, as that decreases the chance of him having to cut at the LoS and is very friendly in terms of easy reads.

In the example shown from Igo, Fournette falls over almost immediately when hit like cardboard. Fournette could've lessened the damage and prevented the fumble had he lowered himself, protect the ball, and use his brute strength to lessen the impact.

Fournette isn't shifty enough to cut away from something like that, so his only option is to use his supposed best "skillset" to overcome this minor obstacle. He failed miserably and likely would've ended up costing his team an easy fumble for return TD.

I put more of that on the OL there.  If that DL had another half a step he could be just taken the handoff from Bortles.  Not much any RB could do there sadly.

He could have hung on to the ball. Can't just run into a DT like that.

    • If Reich or Fitterer were still around I think the need to extend Young because of what he cost would be stronger.  And yeah Morgan was Fit's right hand when the call was made but there an equal chance that Dan will see it as a chance to move on from Fit and shake off that stink. Holding out some hope that 3 years and clear eyes will allow for an honest appraisal that Young just aint the guy
    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
