Why are there so many Clemson fans where did they come from

I mean this is borderline like cult poo guys.  It's one thing to root for a guy that's local.  Like Brandon Ingram playing for the Lakers, or Clowney or Lamm on the Texans, etc.  But the stadium was full of orange tonight of people rooting for a guy (Watson) that they've probably never said a word to.  And since when do people get jerseys of a college kid with the kid's name on the back of it??? How is that legal where do they get these jerseys?  Clemson football fans are fuging weird man they are a big school it's like Watson is the first NFL player they have ever had

Have you been to SC? They sell Clemson junk in grocery stores.

Oh I'm aware.  I still think it's weird how many Clemson fans showed up tonight wearing their obnoxious orange just to root for one player.  I've literally never seen that ever happen before.

down here clemson is bigger than anything, having just moved to greenville sc from charlotte it is a bit of a culture shock.  at least they support thier local team(clemson).  I really dont see what the big deal was,  they talk about boulware a lot down here.

Tools. The majority of them probably also claim to be Panthers fans but yet they showed up to a Panthers home game decked out in gear supporting a rival player. Should've worn a Panthers jersey and rocked a Clemson hat or something. That would've been an acceptable compromise.

In SC college football  is king...they are tigers first...

Yeah college football is pretty big here in SC. It is usually pretty split between Clemson and the Gamecocks with a slight edge going to Clemson in terms of how many people are fans of them. I personally am outside of the rivalry so if either local team makes it to the championship I'll go for them unless they are playing my Florida Gators. Pro football is next in the list though the state is pretty divided in terms of team. Panther fans have been on the rise thankfully, and for the most part have become the majority though a lot of the older people from before the Panthers existed still cling to teams like the Cowboys, Steelers, and even some Falcon fans in the areas near Georgia.

    • Did not expect this from national media. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/10-best-nfl-defenses-2026-texans-seahawks-broncos 10. Carolina Panthers   Key additions: OLB Jaelan Phillips (FA), LB Devin Lloyd (FA), DT Lee Hunter (draft) Key losses: DT A’Shawn Robinson (FA) Don’t be surprised to see the Panthers, who ranked 15th in points allowed and 16th in yards given up last season, make the leap into the top-10 conversation in 2026.  They added two of the marquee defensive free agents in edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and linebacker Devin Lloyd. Cornerback Jaycee Horn is coming off back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons. Carolina lost starting defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson in free agency but essentially replaced him with second-round pick Lee Hunter, who had 10.5 tackles for loss at Texas Tech last season.  Ejiro Evero, one of the NFL’s most respected defensive coordinators, has plenty of talent to work with.
    • unless you have a bonafide superstar at Qb you bring in competition every year until you do & or at the very least you want a legitimate plan B in case of an injury .the problem in Carolina is they know Bryce ayoung most likely could not actually win a real legitimate NFL Qb competition right now & if & when he did not win that aforesaid Qb competition it would not only be a major distraction but a setback to his overall development.& moreover once the fans realized they had a much better Qb on the roster it would be alot of public pressure to start the better Qb  ...just saying
