A possible name to keep an eye out for in the coming months is Matt Elliott

Is ryan Cowden the guy from san fan? If that's him he held a high role during the end of the Harbaugh era. Who knows whats in store. I believe if Jerry is still in charge, the job will require unique skills. For one just like gettleman, you can't fire anyone and hire your own staff. Any self-respecting potential GM wouldn't give Carolina any time if that's the case. Have to settle for a desperate yes-man, wait.......wait a minute..... I believe the search is OVER.

Cowden is now in Tennessee. Spent quite a few years in Carolina.

Ok, i member somewhat now. He was held in high regards here and part of Jon Robinson first hires.(Titans are building a legit 53 roster) He's young too, I think 37. If he learned more from Robinson, he will be in high demand league wide.

Doing my best not to do a NJPanthers12 impression here, but...

I have it on good authority Matt Elliott is a name being considered in the GM hunt.

Yeah remember when we had no clue Hurney had already signed an extension back in the day? Richardson has already inked him 5 years.

This would be a good addition to a front office that desperately needs talent analytics

I can't find any evidence that Elliott has had any experience in scouting or (as you pointed out in the OP) team management.

I can't find any evidence that he's even been associated in any way with the NFL since his retirement.

What is his experience in "talent analytics" with regard to the NFL specifically?

As far as I know he has none. All I know about the guy is he has an unedited draft of a book about playing offensive line tucked away in his office unpublished.

re: talent analytics I more meant that as a former player he's more likely to be able to scout/draft than a fuging newspaper delivery douche or whatever hurney was. He's running some kind of business in Indiana so maybe he has experience on that side of things, idk.

hopefully he is brought in in some kind of assistant capacity

Well, it sure sounds like something Jerry "I only want nice guys" Richardson could do.  Its obvious that actual experience and a documented ability to scout professional talent mean nothing to him.

(P.S. And I mean no personal insult to Elliott in the statement above.)
