What excuse are gonna be used if we lose to SF?

All I know if we lose to a talentless team like SF you better brace yourself, this is the easiest game we have all year

Bills and dolphins at home will be easier than @SF. And new England is lucky enough to play those teams twice every year

Disagree if you want.. I don't really care

Maybe we suck, maybe SF is a lot better than anyone expected, maybe it was just a fluke, definitely calm the fug down freaking out about a game that hasn't even been played.

The bills maybe, the Dolphins hell no. The Dolphins are loaded with talent

at least the bills have a average QB and a pro bowl RB, the 49ers best offensive player is Garçon

If Cam starts and a loss to San Fran..

Yikes.

If that happens, I owe a co-worker $100, if the win by more the 7.5, I owe the $100 and a 24pk of corona... so... I'm hoping we don't lose, and if we do, Anderson better be playing so it voids the corona part of the bet

For us it does, the panthers are a very emotionally driven team. I remember a quote from Olsen who said that the Broncos game last year threw their entire psyche off and that nothing felt right after that game.

Losing to such an inferior could set a bad tone for the season, just like last year

That was a much different circumstance. The Broncos had just eaten our lunch and won the superbowl. That's why it threw the Panthers off because they may never get that close again anytime soon.

Not an option if Cam starts

The biggest weakness on this team remains in the head coaching position and the offensive coordinator position.

I'll believe they have changed when I see it.  I have high hopes but that's all they are... hopes.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
