Olsen Contract Tweaked

I'm pretty cool with this.  It gives Greg the chance to earn extra money and get extra recognition, but doesn't set a terrible precedent of re-doing Greg's contract given that he still has 2 years left and guys like Star & Norwell are up next.

So far Marty hasn't sucked...  I'm cautiously optimistic.  But of course he's not necessarily faced a really hard test yet either.

The new $2 million in incentives in Greg Olsen's contract are related to "receptions, receiving yards, average yards-per-catch and postseason honors."

In other words, the money is spread out. It's the Panthers doing the bare minimum to keep Olsen happy after he sought a new contract.

Hope that $2M was worth Gettlemans job

You guys posting poo like this in every Olsen/TD thread are beginning to sound as bad or worse than the former Panthers you used to bash for speaking out against Gettleman. Give it a rest.

2018 NFL draft...

"And with their 2nd round pick, the Carolina Panthers draft LinvilleGorge! Uh... who dafuq is that??? Well, says here he's 35 years old, hasn't played organized football in nearly 20 years, and he's a 5'10" 185 pound LB. Hmmm... well, it's a Marty Hurney 2nd round pick after all. Surely no one was expecting him to select an actual NFL caliber player so... well, yeah..."

David Newton ESPN Staff Writer

Greg Olsen was looking for an extension to get his average yearly salary closer to what his production warranted after becoming the first tight end in NFL history to have three straight 1,000-yard receiving season . The $2 million he can earn in incentives with the Panthers after Thursday's restructuring is a win-win for both sides. "We had an opportunity present itself and we felt like it was a good opportunity to get something done, one that worked for both sides,'' interim general manager Marty Hurney told ESPN.com. "He's extremely consistent. He's a tremendous player. It was just a unique situation.''

If this offense performs as it should. The tight end will no longer be the primary receiver. I really don't think Greg get another 1000 yards receiving.

Haha this guy over here, bro the offense is driven by the TE/RB combo

Olsen will pass the 1K mark and the leading receiver

I love incentive based contracts. I wish all player contracts were largely incentive based. You only pay if they perform. A huge win- win for both sides. If this is an example of what Hurney learned while away then he really progressed and honestly my doubts about him being the GM are starting to be eased. Let's see what he does with Star and Norwell.
