This would be the Hurney-est thing ever other than trading a future 1st round pick for a complete scrub. Carry two kickers on the active roster thinkibg you can get something for one of them before cutting the young guy to keep the overpaid choke artist vet then losing the young guy before you can put him on the PS.

Correct, I expected nothing different considering Rivera's noted love affair with washed-up mediocre overpaid veterans.

No way this would have occurred with Gettleman so why blame Rivera? You think a defensive coach wants two fuging kickers? Makes no sense

It's idiotic no matter how you slice it...  Go look around and see how many Ks are on practice squads.  It rarely happens bc if they're good enough to be employed, they're not on a practice squad to further "develop."  If Hurney is dumb enough to think he can sneak Butker there OR hold onto both guys thinking someone will deal for one of them, then he will quickly realize he is engaging in a fruitless endeavor.

The very act of trying to keep Butker as a failsafe indicates they don't fully trust Gano.  They make themselves look unsure, may put a great potential kicker in line with another team and then we're stuck with the guy who they are basically admitting they can't fully back.   

The fact that they just can't cut him is very telling about the current collection of staff..coaching to FO.  All of them.
