Regarding Cam... Let's Take A Deep Breath, Relax... He's Got This.

Just thinking back on how rough things have been so far offensively, and obviously Cam has a lot of excuses to pin his rough start on that have nothing to do with him.  But, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was deja vu...  that I've seen Cam like this before.  I was certain I recalled some tough games in the past where we couldn't score and we/he gave the ball away a lot...  for some reason, I kept thinking back to an ugly Titans game a few years ago, at home in the rain, but IIRC, that was later in the season.

What's relevant here, is that we have endured these exact same rough outings at least once a year, every year, within the first 6 games of the season, with the one exception being 2014 and 2015 - kinda.  I'll explain.

Within the first 6 games, every season, since Cam's rookie season, he has had a stinker of a game.  A stinker in this instance is a game in which he throws no touchdowns, while throwing 3 INTs.  Again, the only years that didn't happen, were 2014 and 2015.  But curiously enough, in 2015, in the 6th game, he had a 1 TD/3 INT outing (which is virtually just as bad as a 0 TD/3 INT game) against Philly that we somehow won.  Additionally, his completion percentage has always been poor to start seasons, usually hovering the high 50s, but he picks it up as he plays more games.  It's also worth noting that the one season (2014) that he didn't have a 3 INT game in the first 6 games was actually the year he was coming off of off-season ankle surgery.

So, what I'm saying is, RELAX.  We've been here before.  IMO, his arm looks just as strong and powerful as it was before, he just has to allow things to slow down.  Cam has historically been a slow starter, but he gets in his rhythm and carries us with his transcendent talent as the season wears on.  He's got this.  Believe in him.  Watch and see...

Speaking of Cam, has there been any information as to how much the coaches are allowing him to practice this week. I know that all the previous games they have taken it easy on him and holding him back and stopping him during practice. Just wondering if they are allowing him more reps and throws this week to try and get himself back into the swing of things.

I concur that Cam will be fine. His shoulder definitely doesn't look game ready to me but I have no doubt it will be eventually.

I just believe we definitely need to set him loose like we use to and stop trying to transform him into a pocket passer. He's more liable to take a nasty hit standing in the pocket than if he was on the run IMO.

Running QB that no longer wants to run. This won't end well.

Cam has addressed this many times.  He is a football player and running is his edge.

Comes down to play calls. You can go back to Auburn...play calls have always greatly dictated Cam's running.  You ask him to throw and he generally always has

I am on board with Cam. But his contract and money do not allow room for a "slow starter". Saying such is like giving a participation medal. Its not year 1, 2 or even 3. As a man....if you cannot get it together after this many years in the league to put the mental roadblocks aside ( the injuries/surgury i can understand, but most here are talking about his mental) by this point....with THAT contract...then its not as easy to say relax.

I agree. There isn't a lot of time for turn around in the NFL. Even if you start the season at 3-3, you have to figure you have to go 7-3 the rest of the year to make the playoffs. Maybe even 8-2

There's something deeper going on with Cam than just throwing poor passes.  I can't really recall the last time I saw that 1000 watt smile on the field, superman, first down in your face, dabbing or anything of the variety.  Basically the swag is gone.  Where did the swag go?

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
