Tampa Bay Bucs - A "get right" game for the Panthers offense

The Buccaneers defense is laughably bad. Look at these miserable rankings...

Yards per game - 30th

Sacks - 32nd (Only 7 this season)

3rd down efficiency - 31st

Points per game - 29th

 

The Carolina Panthers offense needs to come out with a 30+ point game. There is no excuse at all why this should not happen. Period.

We said this same thing against NO.  Didn't work out so well.

They are a division opponent and they know exactly what Shula will run.

If we win, it will be because the defense balled out again.

New Orleans was a “get right” game as well.

Boy did we blow that.

The Saints game was after two games and this one after seven, but still fair to feel that way. Although the offense has saved the D twice this year too.

Oh there's an excuse, and his name is Mike Shula.

Division opponent so the game is personal.

The offense isn't mentally prepared like our defense is. They don't come out to dominate.

If we put up another lackluster performance Shula needs to stay in Tampa.

The Saints are a respectable 16th in points allowed per game. 

 

The Bucs are 29th. 

 

 

This is not the same scenario.

3 biggest concerns:

 

1. Gerald McCoy will likely own Larsen.  Will demand double team a lot.

2. Which means Matt Kalil will be 1v1. Maybe a RB or TE chip but that hasn't helped much.

3. They have 2 really good LB in Kwon Alexander and David who can somewhat neutralize CMC out of the backfield.

 

That just looks like a struggle to me.

As a coach, you have to instill a mentality that wins, not just X's and O's. 

The offense has some key guys out but that's the NFL. Keep pounding.
