Haters ain’t hatin today

Couldn’t watch the game today so I’m not sure how good/bad Shula and Rivera were. Normally even when we win there are complaints about play calling, time management but all I could find in the threads was stuff about how we once again went into prevent and almost lost.

So what’s going on? Did they both have a good game at the same time?

At 6:51 in the 3rd quarter we kicked a FG to take an 11 pt lead.

Then Ron shut it down.

We proceeded to have 4 subsequent offensive possessions as follows: 3 and out, 5 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out.  In that time, Minnesota (surprise surprise surprise) scored 11 pts and tied the game.

Then Cam made an amazing individual play (AGAIN) and pulled Ron and Mike's fatty fat fats out of the fire (AGAIN).

Sound familiar?

And, oh, by the way... in one of those 3-and-outs WE ALMOST SURRENDERED A SAFETY because Ron/Mike think that its the "safe" and "less risky" thing to do at the 1-yard line to hand the ball off 3-yards deep in the end-zone.

And then on 3rd down, might as well air it out instead of trying to get the first down and move the chains in a more realistic manner.

Except for the incessant and constant runs on 1st down, its almost as if Shula draws random plays out of a Mason jar.

    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
    • They also came out for the encore and the singers were dressed in canes jerseys. Pretty fuging cool.
    • She kicked ass. Obviously not the same but it’s an absolute pleasure to see this band live. What a great evening.
