This is the dumbest thing I have ever read on the Huddle.  There are a lot of Panther fans in SC.  I recently moved to Greenville from Charlotte see tons of Panthers gear here and Panther flags flying.  Charleston may be biggest City, but I believe the Greenville-Spartanburg area has a larger population.

I have worked and lived in Rock Hill, Greenville, Clemson and Columbia over the past decade and have been consistently perturbed by the lack of Panthers support in SC. I don't know where they all were hiding.

Charleston is the biggest area but Greenville is the fastest growing area in SC, so it will likely eclipse Charleston in the next few years.

Google? The Charleston area is about 380,000  Strong. Charleston is more than the City of Charleston. That being said i dont think that area would be good for the Panthers anyway

I was only quoting Charleston itself. The sprawl is much bigger, obviously. I don't think any area in SC is a very good area but the coastal areas would be a nightmare for a lot of reasons. The only area that would make any sense at all would be across the border from Charlotte.

Interesting stuff, but I still think it would be a long shot to move the stadium that far away.

If we're going to move it from Uptown and kill the pretty sky shots on MNF, let's just go ahead and move the team to Raleigh, who's been trying for some kind of pro team and stadium in the downtown area.  Moving from Charlotte doesn't seem right, though.

Well an NC State fan would and should say that.  Moving to Raleigh would have it's own set of issues.  The team would lose a lot of SC and Charlotte support if they did that.  They'd have to start over with PSLs or season tickets. That's a bad idea the same way moving the team to MB or Charleston would be a bad idea. Also, look at the Hurricanes up there ( a team that should be in Charlotte)....that franchise is on the brink of moving....not very reassuring.  If anything Raleigh should get the Checkers and Charlotte should get the Canes.  I started this thread just saying that SC should help....if a new stadium was the difference...if that happens maybe they should put the stadium on the border, which is still the Charlotte area.  If both states shared a capitol it would be Charlotte....not Raleigh. The team should NEVER leave that area.  It just so happens...that some of SC is included in that area as well...which is why SC should help.

So in my mind....Raleigh in the capitol of NC.  Columbia is the capitol of SC.  Charlotte is the capitol of Carolina.  Many businessmen here use those luxury suites for business meetings....as well as attend Charlotte for conferences outside of a football game...just like North Carolinians do.
