Yeah... what a bust.

It really doesn't make any sense to draft another RB unless the staff is willing to part ways with Jstew in the offseason. If he stays and we take in yet another RB, thats going to be one crowded ass RB room. I think the coaching staff is emotinally tied up with Fozzy and Jstew, and who we really need are just CMC, CAP, and occosinally some Armah or Cam for short yardage.

He started a little slow early on for a top 10 RB, but overall I think he'll wind up being well worth the pick, sooner rather than later. Despite the slow start, he is now averaging about the same yards/carry as Fournette. The biggest issue I have, and this isn't indicative of McC's ability, is how few touches he is seeing. We need to feed him like the Cowboys did Zeke last year. The other concern I had, which was legitimate early on, was how little he was making defenders miss. He's looked much much better in that regard since the Falcons game or so.

I thought it was a bad pick because I don't like taking a RB that high and I didn't think Shula would be able to utilize him effectively. Happy to say it appears I will end up being wrong on both accounts.

I do wonder how he will perform if he is given the bulk of the running. I guess worst case scenario we just run a two back with Fozzy/CAP/insert other RB. It would help to shore up the interior of our line a little.

I still want to see what he can do with a full workload. His maximum amount of carries is still 15 measly carries against the Falcons.

Hes only had 10 carries or more in 3 contests this entire season , which is just dumb for a #8 overall RB. You'd think youd give him at least 5-7 games at the bare minimum with 20-30 carries just to see what the hell happens lol.

In the games CMC has gotten at least 10 carries , his stats are

  • 40 carries , 176 rushing yards, 4.4 yards per carry

4.4 isn't amazing , but its actually still better than Jstew's career average (4.3) and a good bit higher than Fournettes average (Fournette has gotten over 10 carries in every game hes played)

Definitely not a bust. He's a Panther. And he's worked out well for us. We're 11-4 and I have no complaints about Christian McCaffrey's ability.

But there is this idea that we could just plug Cmac in at WR and he could be just as good as any of our other guys. That has not materialized. Maybe it's because he's more valuable to Shula/ Cam in the backfield. With Christian in the backfield, Cam has had one of his highest completion percentages and approaching career highs for rushing yards.

Christian was supposed to be here so that Cam would not have to run so much. We've seemed to abandon that philosophy... and I see it as wise. The McCaffrey factor actually allows Cam to be more successful. In the same way that Cam is a dual threat QB, Christian (with respect to his receiving option) is a dual-threat RB. It may not seem as sexy as we want ... but to go 11-4 with our lack of receiving depth is a credit to his involvement.

Good thing is this dude is still only 21 years old and managed to lead his dysfunctional team in his rookie season in yards from scrimmage and tied for the team lead in total TDs . 1032 yards from scrimage on the Panthers, he'd probably be flirting with 1600 - 2000 yfs on a pass heavy wc team with better coaches and players on offense.

Stop giving Shula credit. He ain't done poo. He's still running him up the middle. He has 75 receptions because Cam is finding him in open space. Shula's a fuging idiot.

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
