FWIW, Wilks is one of those weird cases where he’d be incredible as a head coach but bad as a defensive coordinator.

He has the leadership, respect, and mindset you want in a HC, but lacks the talent to effectively manage playcalling and scheming as a coordinator.

That makes no sense to me.

I actually understand what saca is saying (although I didn't see it until you quoted him because he is on my ignore list).  I work at a school and have seen a few teachers that sucked bad as a teacher but did pretty well when they moved up to an admin position because the have good managerial skills.

Sadly Wilks is just the Rooney candidate of the year. I’d expect multiple seasons of him getting the run around before he’s hired.

Yeah its a bullshit rule. I think it's more insulting than anything.

I honestly think it should be gotten rid of. Minority candidates deserve to know if they’re getting a legitimate shot or just being used to comply with policy.

Yeah its a no win situation. Really what did the rule help anyway? I mean love or hate Rivera he was done the same way and didn't deserve that. He was one hell of a DC and has been a good HC.

i'm thinking

mcDaniels to colts for another overrated gamble by a team with an overrated QB

Patricia to the lions for another overrated pats coordinator leading a team that will never go anywhere

shurmur to the cards where he goes after sam bradford and they go nuts in a shaky division until playoff time when the bradford falls apart (seen this cards story too many times for it to not happen).

wilks goes to the giants and turns them into a wildcard team in the playoffs.

So pretty much Mike Tomlin
