Norv Turner can turn Christian McCaffrey into Panthers’ ‘premiere back’

To be honest Stew's contract is the worst part about keping him. He is still a work horse often carrying 3 or 4 defensive players for the few yards he gains. If Carolina used the Full Back the right way and had been able to empty out the box which was always stacked I think he would have had much better stats the last couple years.

All of which comes back on Shula,

My issue with Stew is his declining vision and first step. He missed several holes or just didn't have the burst to get through it.

Definitely a young Beast Mode type of back. Leonard Fornette got all the publicity but Derrius is the 4th running back in SEC history to have multiple 250 yard rushing games. A list that includes Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson and does not include Nick Chubbs.

Guice is supposed to be the 2nd RB off the board and we have pick 24 .. Hes likely to go to the Seahawks or Raiders.

Highly doubt we get RB in the 1st, value wont be there for  anyone not named guice or barkley. Honestly I hope we go defense for teh entire draft and get RB like Josh Adams or Rashaad Penny with one or both of our 3rds. We need a youth overhaul at saftey, and some better CB talent, and another young DE to go along with hall.

Well, I agree he is closer to the end of his career than he is to the start, but I would hate to get rid of him without a definant replacement.... Cap isn't it, while he is strong when he gets hold of the ball there were too many times it appeared like he wasn't even paying attention.

I think we should try to find a young Stewart replacement, but finding one who doesn't have a learning curve seems to be tough.

Uhh really...? What ROOKIE hits their ceiling their rookie year?

We've had quite a few his who their ceilings in their rookie year and were never as good again. Keary Colbert comes to mind. You could almost say Kelvin Benjamin hit his ceiling in this rookie year based upon current production.

“They’re going to draft a running back, a physical style of running back, so that they can run the ball up inside a little bit and loosen defenses up for Christian to get back in there and do his thing on the perimeter,” Tomlinson said. “That’s how Norv has done it in the past. I’m almost positive that he’s going to create the same type of formula that he’s used everywhere else, and they’re going to get a running back to run the ball inside.”

Now that makes sense!!

Colbert?

These guys didn’t hit their ceiling their rookie year... they just never hit their ceilings.

Turner adjusts his offense for what works well for his personnel, and scraps what doesn’t.

thank heavens

seriously, how hard a concept is this to grasp?

instead our plan has been to come up with a plan, hope that we can get our guys to fit it and if they don't...keep doing it anyways and then (at least on the forums) bitch about how someone else would fit that plan better.

screw all that. fit what you want to do to who you've got right now. would what we were doing run better with two good TEs? maybe. that's not what we've got. non-issue.

look at your personnel, find what works best with them. OL can't do what you want them to do? ok...you've got three choices, keep doing it anyways, try to change out your personnel, or find what works with the guys you've got.

smh

When we drafted CMC I predicted that Shula would be fired if didn't make CMC a star. Prediction fulfilled. Norv has his hands full because Cam will always be up and down, but we're only a few pieces from SB level. We need a #1 WR, DE, and better safeties. We can do that his offseason.

I can't believe we wasted so much time and talent with Shula. Pisses me off.

Can't wait to see a guy that actually knows what he's doing and knows how to use his personnel correctly.

To be honest, as much as I want it to piss me off, it's water under the bridge. I'm not going to waste any time over the past.

Norv is a great OC, & even better QB coach.  We as Panther fans, are honestly entering new territory. We've never had a OC as good as Norv.

I can see CMC being used like a Marshall Faulk.  He will be the best thing that can happen for Cam, and I pray Cam embraces this opportunity to step up his game to levels we've never seen.

  • Demarcus Lawrence or Ziggy Anzah
  • Marquise Lee or Allen Robinson
  • Ronnie Harrison R1
  • R2 Nick Chubb, Josh Adams, or Rashaad Penny
  • R3 TE , CB
