Turner discusses plans for Newton

I'm not gonna lie, I'm not super excited about Norv but there's no doubting the man's experience running NFL offenses. Worst case scenario, this is an upgrade over Shula. Best case scenario, this is a HUGE upgrade over Shula. We'll just have to wait and see. It sounds like Norv isn't going to try to fit square pegs into round holes and that should be ever coordinator's #1 goal. Figure out what your personnel is best at and play to their strengths. Lots of coordinators could be successful if they had an ideal roster but with the salary cap, draft order, etc. there's no such thing as a perfect roster. Every team has strengths and weaknesses. It's up to the staff to consistently put their team in a position to maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.

I watched this twice, and one thing that he says COULD suggest that we will not overhaul the WR position as some of the posters here want.  He mentions that he needs continuity and to develop relationships with his WRs.  I think this is why he relied on Benjamin to such a degree, it could have led to the trade.   In addition, he had surgery and missed camp, Samuel was hurt a lot, and he ended the season with Byrd, Bersin, and Sheperd---a new WR suffering from hand and finger arthritis or something that looked  like it.

The point?  Cam will have OTAs and the summer to get on the same page with the WRs he  has---while I think we add a vet, that may be it.  Timing and familiarity are important, and Norv will be repping what we have, but I do not see an overhaul.

One of the things that also really stood out me was Turner saying that he likes implement the things his players do best. I take that as Turner not shying away from Cams ability to run and draw in the defense. That also means making the most of CMCs speed and hands. If he can make Funch play like a big WR he very well may make his first Pro Bowl this year

"I always think it's important for the quarterback when you're in the pocket, the things you're doing to be very quick with the ball, be specific, get the ball out, and I think that's where we can help Cam,” Turner said.

“I think there's some technical things in the drop, in the vision, where you're looking, when you're looking that we can help and get the ball out quicker.

He's heard our doubts loud and clear. I'm officially excited.

He specifically references Adam Theilen, who wasn't always the guy you see now.

Yeah, we need one good vet wr. From the draft we need safty, cb, rb, de.

100% agree.  If we do not sign Star, a NT could be added (or we move Butler to NT and grab a 3 tech DT).  We will  probably add a TE and OT project late.

With Wilks gone, maybe we do not blitz as much, which may make DE our priority going into the draft.  With Wilks, II might have guessed a top CB.
