Also wouldn't mind somebody from State's DL.  Met with Street, but either of our DTs (Hill or Jones) would be interesting picks in the later rounds.

Ha. Your homerism is showing. I agree with you on the NC dl though. However they seem to have turned some heads at the combine and moved up most draft boards. Without a 4th they may not be an option. I wouldn't be upset though. Since we've met with Senat so many times though it would surprise me if we took them before Senat.

I don’t know, when we drafted star, as soon as our name popped up, it said “pick was in” haha. Eisen was laughing at how fast it was.

Take this for what it's worth:

4 DE

2 TE

5 RB

2 WR

3 LB

3 DB

1 OL

2 DL

No need to look too deep into this, as teams aren't in control of pro day schedules. But it's at least worth noting, obviously we are looking for a Pep replacement and a compliment at RB. No surprises, we'll be taking a RB this year. It's also interesting only one OL thus far. I'd like to see this thread updated up to the draft, I think it's showing us some things.

Measurements, not drills. Hurst and Andrews looked better at receiving drills. My worry with him is that people read the numbers but don’t watch the position drills. He looks like an athlete but was not the best pass catcher. I wouldn’t touch him in the first.

I agree in part to what you are saying.  His gauntlet drills were not the best if you watched it. But let me try to persuade your thinking.  When I ask myself how do we get a SB ring it comes down to fixing our atrocious red zone percentage.

https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/red-zone-scoring-pct

We need to try to get much better if we are going to win that ring.  It's also the reason we just had to overpay a damn kicker because he had inflated stats from chipshot FG's.

The difference in my opinion that Gesicki brings is his red zone ability at the next level.  He has a damn 41 in. Verticle leap at 6'6". That 10 inches higher than any other TE.  That could be unstoppable in the red zone. And if you watch his tape his body control and timing the ball at the high spot is outstanding.

I like the thought of getting a power back to fix that, but we were rated that low with Norwell last year. So I don't think that's the answer.  Plus we want to stop getting Cam crushed.

And if we actually go with Funch, Wright, Smith that doesn't give me the warm fuzzy feeling that our red zone % will improve.

He may not be any good at blocking but Norv spent his career with Gates who was subpar. And maybe Matsko gan get him better. He is a competitive kid.

Lastly I'm not sold that Olsen will ever be the same after that foot injury.  Its the reason for his increased push into the braodcasting world. I love Greg but I'm weary that we are going into a season with not healthy #1 and no #2.  Not a recipe for success with this receiving core.

Hell I would be happy if we could covert another 6-8 TD's beacuase of him next year. Better than we got out of the Butler 1st round pick.

And for the haters, yes I also like Reid at 24.  Just not sold we will ever put that importance in that position.

Again I'm for trading down a couple spots to still get Gesicki. Pick up another 3rd and get Jesse Bates III from Wake in the 3rd.  That kid gets no love.

Besides oline (Hernandez, Daniels, Price), the only offensive player I think I’d want in the 1st is Gesicki.

We need defense right now sooo bad...Rb class is so deep...I don’t think we “need” a WR as bad as others think...but not only is Gesicki is a baller, he’s also a very big need
