Those drafts had the cupboards empty on the team. I think things will be easier when you have a playoff caliber base to build off of.

Remember, this was the Hurney who used his feelings more than his head. Apparently we have a more technical, less emotional Hurney (or so he claims). What's good is when Hurney drafts in the 1st round, he always hits a homer (except for Otah, '08).

When it comes to drafting, to many fans have tunnel vision, looking only at the teams results, without comparing it to the rest of the league.  Truth is that more often than not, drafted players don't pan out. I did see some sites that compare our draft history over the last 5 years to other teams and fwiw, we usually come off fairly well.  Here is one comparison for a 5 year period (2012-2016).   We made the ten best.

Two drafts, two guys headed for the HOF.  Shoot, Atlanta doesn’t have a single player on their roster from 2012.  

This sample size is too small to mean anything.

And it has nothing to do with his drafting players. Which is actually a pretty good track record.

His last three drafts were absolutely horrific and definitely contributed to the overall depleted roster and terrible cap situation that ultimately got him fired.
